A new type of rock cobbled together from plastic, volcanic rock, beach sand, seashells, and corals has begun forming on the shores of Hawaii. These stones most likely formed from melting plastic in fires lit by humans who were camping or fishing. Although anywhere there is a heat source, such as forest fires or lava flows, and abundant plastic debris, there is the potential for the formation of “plastiglomerate”. Once the plastic has fused to denser materials, like rock and coral, it sinks to the sea floor, and the chances it will become buried and preserved in the geologic record increase.

A big thank you to SONY for coming on board as a sponsor of hitRECord and for providing 50 of their brand new Music Video Recorders to members of our community to help shoot this video. The song includes a number of references to the great outdoors, so we asked musicians of all kinds to contribute by playing along to the song in nature.
As a result of this partnership, all of the contributing artists to this video will receive a portion of our 2013 sponsorship money.
Enjoy! And thanks again <3

I am thoroughly sickened by just how appallingly talented and awesome everyone on HitRECord is, and how much I suck by comparison…
I’m with you, Jack. :)
This past Saturday I accepted our #Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media on behalf of hitRECord and our worldwide community. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the thousands of brilliant contributing artists who make our show. And, thank you to our wonderful partners at pivot.
We’re making Season Two of HITRECORD ON TV right now. Come work with us!

Written and narrated by wirrow (United Kingdom,) this feast for the eyes explores the poetic beauty of flickering lights. ppeppina (Finland) performed the score and the hitRECord community filmed an array of light imagery to go with wirrow’s words. Contributions were edited together by Dr. Gory (United States) and we screened the short film in 2012 on our tour “Hit RECord On the Road.” Each night, right after we screened it, we’d turn all the house and stage lights completely off, take out anything that flickered and shined them at each other. Magic. Thanks again <3 J
Another old favorite Wirrow piece! Thanks for reposting this, Joe!
