What Is A Promise Ring?
Most people equate the promise ring with an engagement ring. However, there is little distinction between them. A promise ring can be used to symbolize your commitment and promise in your relationship. Engagement rings, on the other hand, will signify that you are engaged to your love.
A promise ring is a ring given from one person in a love relationship to another to represent loyalty and devotion, frequently (but not necessarily) before an engagement. At its most basic, gifting a promise ring represents one partner's commitment to the relationship, and accepting the ring signifies the same for the receiver.
Promise rings can be worn on either hand's ring finger. There is no "proper" finger or hand for a promise ring; rather, wear your ring on the finger that is most comfortable and handy for you.
Promise bands are sometimes worn on the left ring finger by some people. This is the most usual manner for a promise ring to be worn. Some people choose to wear it on the right ring finger to avoid confusion with an engagement ring.
Promise rings have been gifted since ancient times, when bands engraved with romantic poems were exchanged as a sign and promise of love. Nowadays, it usually refers to a couple's commitment to one another or a confession of faithfulness, especially if they've been dating for a while.
