âMost of this video will delight you and even the small part that does not (and if you watch it all the way through you'll know exactly what I'm talking about) is so short that it isn't even worth getting upset about. Ya got 8 minutes? Ya got time to watch this.â
- Alex Balk, The Awl
âOwner Donna Siafakas recounts how her Greenpoint bakery has seen the neighborhood evolve from primarily Polish immigrants to  today's influx of "big flocks of hipsters," but the film's main focus is the bakery's regular customers, who gather for coffee and egg sandwiches at the counter. Go, meet the restaurant's eclectic group of regulars, who discuss the changing Greenpoint..."
- Erin DeJesus, Eater.com
"... the documentary is a quick watch, but itâs able to effectively show everyone who moves through the bakery on a given day, from Greenpoint lifers to newcomers with weird Leonardo DiCaprio-based art projects. Though weâd avoid watching it while hungry, because youâll only get hungrier seeing all those donuts and egg sandwiches."
- David Colon, Brokelyn
"Filmmakers Keif Roberts and Peter J. Haas have done a splendid job at capturing the delightful sense of community that lies at the sugar-dusted heart of Peter Pan."

"Donut documentary. What could be better?"
- DonutsAGoGo (@DonutsAGoGO)
"Itâs been pretty brutal in the city that never sleeps lately. Icy, snowy, sleety, plus slippery sidewalks and (extra) cranky denizens. So donât visit right now; itâs horrible here. Â However! What you can do, from the comfort of your own home, is drool over some of the cityâs finest fare: mozz, lox, and donuts. New York, arguably, does them better than anywhere else in the world."

Short film âFreshkills PARK,â part of âOne Day on Earth,â explores what will become NYCâs biggest park.
Staten Island is sometimes called New York Cityâs âforgotten borough,â but for decades it fulfilled a key role as the home of the Big Appleâs sole landfill, taking in the rest of the cityâs garbage. But the familiar fragrance of refuse is fading. After more than a decade of work by the NYC Parks Department, parts of the Freshkills Landfill are turning over a new leaf as part of the planned Freshkills Parkâwhich will eventually become the largest green space in the city.
âFreshkills PARK,â a new short film co-produced by Left Turn Productions and One Day On Earth, investigates on the complex realities of this environmental puzzle. When the park fully opens to the public decades from now, it will span 2,200 acres (nearly 3 times the size of Central Park) and feature nature trails, plus spaces for a variety of activities including mountain biking, horseback riding, and kayaking.
âThe existence of this park raises a lot of questions about how we deal with our effect on nature,â co-director Peter Haas says. âItâs great that weâre able to reclaim this blighted area, but itâs going to take us 40 years to fix something that we destroyed in a relatively short period of time. And itâs not like can ever completely restore the habitat that was lostâweâre still imposing a new ecosystem on the land.â
You can view âFreshkills PARKâ for free at:Â http://freshkillsparkfilm.blogspot.com/Â
Note: One Day on Earth is a project that recruits filmmakers across the planet to simultaneously capture the unexplored corners of the world around them over a 24-hour period.
