Fact of the matter was, if he was going to stick his nose in a lecture hall it didn’t belong in, it’d sooner be for literature. No doubt, though, Kirk’s interest was piqued; intent to listen with doggish dedication to the heels of what he didn’t know. It was a simple thing about Kirk, contrary to popular belief, the pursuit of knowledge--of any sort--was threaded deep in him.

There’s a brief flickering of amusement in the Captain’s tone && across his expression at that; he welcomes it, truly. Expressions of optimism, but not in ignorance of the truth. Though the sun never rose on command, the longest night did eventually give way to the break of day.
