Translations for Enzo's testimonies from the Japanese manuals of Devil May Cry 1 and 3.

āDante? Yeah I know the guy, heās a handyman dealing with shady jobs.
I've seen a lot of dangerous guys in my line of work, but none of them come close to him.
To begin with, heās got crazy skills. Iāve seen him once take on about a dozen thugs, all of āem armed with Uzis and fought his way through using a strange looking sword that he carries with him!
That guy wouldnāt bat an eyelash even if a bullet went an inch past his nose. On top of that, heās one heckuva weirdo.
If he gets a request and doesnāt like it, he aināt gonna take it even for 100 dollars bills stacked up to the ceiling but, if itās something like ghost hunting, exorcism or some other shady business, then heāll jump at the opportunity even for free of charge.
Thereās a rumor that he might have blue blood flowing through himā¦
Iām telling yous, even a devil may cry if that guy will glare at one!"

I knew about the testimony from the Devil May Cry 1 manual, which contained a significant mistranslation but I haven't seen a translation for the DMC3 one.
Regarding the mistranslation, in the English manual of the game, Enzo called Dante's sword Woozy, which wasn't the case.
In the Japanese text it says ć¦ć¼ćøć¼ (uujii) and it means "Uzi" and it was Dante's opponents that used the guns.
I have a few more notes for this one since I have the original text and I could compare it with the one from the English manual.
Manual: "Besides, he's weird."
My translation: āOn top of that, heās one heckuva weirdo."
The translation I made isn't that different. The meaning of the Japanese word is "eccentric".
Oh yeah, and I tried to make Enzo sound like he is talking colloquially like in the Japanese version.

I for one don't know if this testimony has been localized, so if any of you know it from another material, let me know.
So, I found an interesting fact which I don't know if it has been mentioned in other DMC books, for me it was the first time learning about it.
"The guy wanted to set up an office and told me to find him a nice property and get this, on top of that, he wants it to be in a place as dangerous as possible!"
So apparently when Dante asked Enzo to find him a place, he wanted it to be in a bad neighborhood.
We can assume that Dante must have though that being in that kind of place will bring him interesting jobs, I mean, he worked as mercenary when he went by Tony Redgrave.

I mentioned how Enzo talks colloquially/informal.
Well, in the Japanese text it says :
ćę°ć«å¬ććććć大層åćć§ććć
The sentence can be translated as "he seemed to like it and he was very happy", but as you have seen, I took liberties with this part.
The verb in Japanese ćę°ć«å¬ć is used in keigo (respectful language) and it means "to like; to prefer; to be pleased by".
It is used used with people who are of a higher status than yourself.
Enzo talks informally, so why did he use keigo?
Well, it's because it can convey sarcasm or it can be used to mock someone. In our case, I believe Enzo talked that way because he was talking like a businessman and he used keigo for Dante because he was the client, thus we can imagine him saying something like "it was to the liking of my esteemed customer", something like that. I believe he was trying to sound playful! I hope I managed to explain well enough!
So, the Japanese version did not say the word "customer", like I said, I took liberties with that part. Let me know your opinions about it!
