Found this in my draft. I really was onto something, wasn't I?

Makes me roll my eyes when Netflix DMC fans try to justify how this terrible show treats Sparda and his mythos or worse, pretend it's not different from games.
"Only bad guys talk shit of him, just like in games!" Except in games, even the villains speak of Sparda highly and none of them ever feel the need to LIE or insinuate the nonsense this hateful show has. Even the biggest hater of them all, Beowulf is borderline yandere toward Sparda. Meanwhile the Netflix show has held Sparda in outright contempt for sixteen episodes straight (two-thirds of the show by the way) without even showing him a semblance of respect. He's shown as a rat at worst, and a gray tool at best instead of the hero that surmounted his very nature to protect humanity.
You can also see it in how his story and legend is told by Mary. And she is a human who directly benefits form his actions. And yet her words are nothing but derision and insults. Netflix made this our insight into Sparda's character.
"Sparda wasn't fleshed out in games and we know little of him" yeah? And how clueless, stupid and spiteful can Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen be to have failed to adapt even that in their show? We know Sparda woke up to justice, we know he was there for his sons and wife till his death, we know he stood up for the weak and was a compassionate individual, we know he left his swords for his sons, we know he was an outlier to demons in ways he achieved humanity, etc. NONE OF THAT exists in this horrible show.
It's that these two characters aren't even the same person beyond sharing a name.
Sparda has limited lore in games and STILL this show and its writers went out of their way to eagerly go against everything known about him. You cannot say this wasn't deliberate.
And season 3, the remaning eight episodes will NOT "fix" anything. Because it is doomed either way. Either the slander and hateful shit end up being just slander in which case, all Adi Shankar did was trolling to just disrespect an important respected character from games. Or parts of it end up being true in which case, yeah this is still outright contempt and character assassination for Sparda. This isn't "nuance". It's not good storytelling. It's barely even storytelling. It's active attempts to show contempt toward the source material.
Netflix DMC has been sabotaging itself since its very first episode. And truthfully, the joke is on the people who still pretend this show was faithful or better at any capacity when even Adi doesn't. He made his stupid show and is moving on.
THE FINAL SEASON FOR NETFLIX DMC. THANK FUCKING GOD!

The more I think about it the more disgusted I get over the netflix dmc making Lady a fed because state violence has been used against the feminist movement/women who don't "fit" the status quo. Having a character who, by her very nature goes against the status quo, perpetuating the same violence sends a REALLY bad message.
What Netflix DMC (and apparently some "fans") don't understand is demons are a warped reflection of humanity. They are immensely powerful, otherworldly being of supernatural who, despite their power, are incapable of love or compassion or human emotions and so hellbent on cruelty and destruction. Humans are nothing but prey and livestock to even to the weakest of demons.
It's why some humans go as far as sacrificing their humanity in order to become demons. The power that comes with being a demon is tantalizing to many.
And so it's why it's significant that a demon like Sparda surmount his nature and accepts humanity. Moved by compassion and love, he sacrifices his own power to protect people. He woke up to justice. He set a precedent, the first of his kind.
Devil May Cry does not frame demons and humans as "races". It's Netflix's failure to have gone there and all for the sake of a cheap offensive race analogy. It is also a basic element of Devil May Cry that can't be tampered with.
That's why the existence of "weak humanoid demons" is cheap and doesn't fit this franchise one bit.
hi babe
christ. THE DIFFERENCES ARE DRASTIC. I love you Lady. I’m so sorry they weaponized you for their sh*tty military au.
timezones prevent me from uploading this at a more appropriate time, so have this while i remember to post it
solidarity from the castlevania fandom to the dmc fandom:
I think I know why I hate this show so much. Okay we all remember the 2007 anime? It was a canon anime that had a minimal budget but did what it could at the time. We got a new attempt at a show a little less than 20 years later. The thing is, DMC has a lot of material outside of the games that could be explored as well as some worldbuilding fleshed out. An anime would be perfect to put it all in one place that is easy to digest for more casual players who are interested in the lore as well just be an enjoyable watch. If DMC is anything, it's extremely anime coded.
So why the fuck would you give the rights to some nepo baby who is wasting a golden opportunity? Because what is going to happen is the show is going to fail, either after this season they are going to go back on the S3 announcement or after S3 they will cut it. I cannot see it making it to S4 but they might with enough money. The likely hood of us getting another anime that is more in line with the games any time soon is extremely unlikely, at the very least we will be waiting for another 20 or so years. That is fucking disappointing and would piss any fan base off.
That's why people who say that you are delusional for wanting something like the games are the worst because no I would hope a DMC anime isn't like the games, I would hope the story would be better, the characterizations more consistent, and the world built upon. I expect better from an anime who doesn't have to focus on game play to make it's story better. And yet we got a show that calls itself DMC with shitty writing, horrible pacing, and terrible characterization while throwing the themes of the games into the garbage and coming up with it's new stupid theme that does not match the already established DMC franchise.
The faster this show flops, the sooner we may get an Anime that actually is good. And for those who tell me to just make my own show? Yeah let me call John Capcom and make sure he is alright that I make a competing show to his current one that he spent money on. I am sure that won't get me into legal trouble. Also as you know I am a nepo baby and have all the resources at my disposal to make a show because I also don't work a 9 to 5 to pay my fucking bills.
lucia………………….
