Im reading the 1st book (I'm not done so I'll delete this if I read evidence to the contrary)

Dumbledor should not have sent Hagrid to fetch Harry. Let me explain

Ps. This is a community post I put into a community after misunderstanding the content that I should put there (hc's lol) I fully stand by this but I can't delete it fully so I'm reposting this so I can delete the og lol nothing else is edited from the original post :)

If Harry hadn't met Hagrid he'd be in a much more stable situation in the wizarding world. Hagrid bursts in, scares his family half to death, makes Harry aware of the wizarding world and the 1st thing he tells Harry is that his parents were murdered and their murderer tried to kill him but failed in front of the people that lied to him about these things for YEARS. Instead of having a little bit of decorum and having someone who can go over this properly with him.

He then takes this kid to London with the express disapproval of his guardians wherein he knows no one. They go to the bank and he gives this kid an egregious amount of money to school where (I cant express this enough) he doesn't need to buy anything!

He even says something along the lines of; "wow, I keep forgetting how little you know about the wizarding world." And then he does nothing about it! He doesn't give him more infromation or a way to contact a wizard if he needs to. What if the Dursley's had refused to take him to the train station, since they were already against him going to Hogwarts and they had no doubt already paid for tuition at the public school they were sending him to, Hagrid had no reson to belive Harry had any transport to even get to the train!

And instead of reporting this lack of wizarding knowledge or even bringing any transport concerns to Dumbledor or even McGonnagall, he just does nothing. It was a stroke of luck that the Dursley's drove him to the train station. Dursley says in the book that he only drove Harry because they were already going into town.

And then he blabs about the 3rd floor corridor and how to get in AND WHATS IN IT, (which arguably is the worst part) if he hadn't then Harry and co. wouldn't have gone in and Quirell wouldn't have died

On another note are we going to talk about Quirell just plain dying in the end? Nobody does anything about that either.

Grace who has spent years listening to Rocky talk while on the way to erid and has learnt the ins and outs of the eridian language is stumped when one of the eridians he encounters has an accent

Actually, one up that with; Rocky speaks with a heavy accent and his years in space have made even the people with his accent (Before space travel) sound different to this new accent Rocky created over the years.

Grace is so lost on why he can't understand a single eridian

Obligatory Bloody Mary Harry potter au (just to be clear this post does not support the author and I personally find the world building distasteful, but I spent years of my life hyperfocused on this piece of media because there is so much space to plant my what if's. Again jkr can change her ways of life and undo the damage she has done and help trans people tenfold before dissappearing from the public eye never to be seen again because her fighting for forgiveness for her actions will only cause more damage; I have a strict moral compass everyone can be redeemed otherwise I would have told her to fuck herself)

Anyways onto the actual idea.

Simon is a pureblooded slytherin, he grew up in; vague European country that sounds bad ass enough to go to go to Durmstrang. (No not Korea because jkr has no good worldbuilding and thus no official korean magic school, like seriously one school for the whole of the UK and then only 2 schools for the rest of europe???) So he grew up around that magical culture. His mother escapes from a cult she had gotten wrapped up into to move to the UK, you can decide if its for family or to never be found again. I think Simon would be headed for a career in potion making (yes not herbology he has no reason to have a love for plants and thus I do not offer it to him (jkjk he just prefers potionmaking he still likes botany))

Grace is also part of a pureblooded family (his dad's a half blood but that irrelevant) he gets sorted into gryffindor. His parents died about 2 years before his 1st year of hogwarts so he's very snappy (imagine his home situation as you wish) I imagine he's as creative with his insults as in the original works. Grace has always dreamed of going into experimental charms, without Simon he'd insult his head of department and he'd have to accept a job at hogwarts (or some other school if I feel like providing him with extra bad luck)

Simon and Ryland have a bad 1st meeting on the train, ryland is cocky and overly aggressive and Simon has been told by his mother to not get pushed to the bottom of the food chain in his 1st year. They fight and a couple of prefects separate them, they're put on opposite sides of the train for the trip and since term technically hasn't started they're only given a slight warning not to have it happen during school term.

They get sorted into the aforementioned houses, and some Gryffindors congratulate Ryland on "finding a bad apple before it's sorted" because house rivalry, Ryland is quick to get accepted partially due to a long line of ancestors that were Gryffindors. (Yes, Grace cries in relief about it in the middle of the night so no one can see.)

Simon is near instantly accepted by the slytherins for a similar reason however the slytherins are slower to accept him since even though he's a pureblood (and that does soften the blow significantly) he's technically a foreigner to the school; the first of his family to attend hogwarts.

Over the years they grow to belong at hogwarts and they create a big show of being "enemies since day one." Neither truly hate the other it's just the only way they can prove to themselves they're really a part of the house they were sorted into.

Shenanigans ensue in around 4th year when the stable foundation of "hate" is cracked. They finally talk and discover the other is mostly impartial to themselves (ofc years of saying "I hate the one guy in particular" has you feeling like you hate that one guy in particular) they start hanging out in seceret with the excuse of "I'm only hanging around with him because I'm getting something in return"

Ryland gets ingredients for his spells (he's expiramenting with spell effects on magical plants or something) and Simon gets help with stance and wand holding posture (d.a.d.a. teacher has and always will be a decent teacher at best)

Over the years these things become more of an excuse to hang out and in 6th year one of them starts falling. If you insist on them dating during their enrollment (16 years old feels kinda young to me tbh) they start dating after Christmas 6th year and then spend all summer and last year being all lovey dovey.

Since I dont wanna do that the 1st person to fall ignores it until they can't deny it (a year after they graduate) and by that point the other is also kinda falling hard.

They dance around each other for a couple more years starting to date at like 23 or smt lol

To anyone with the take that for Rocky to play card games (uno) they need to like braile or put some sort of texture on the cards you are a smooth minded fool and you have been hoodwinked and robbed of your time by the education system.
