He wasn't exactly well educated on certain things. Camoen was a fractious teacher and one that was intense, but too pinpoint focused. Keeping Merlin alive was a priority followed only by magical teachings.
He assumed 'highness' was The Queen. And had run with that the ENTIRE time. Because he hadn't yet learned the faces and voices involved. Hadn't gone about delving into the political and social aspects.
