My girl is so grossly overlooked in this fandom. On certain social media platforms she is even hated. It’s gross. How can you hate someone as loving and compassionate and strong as Katara? Oh right, because she’s a brown skinned girl.

Katara is an amazing lead girl and she deserves so much more than the fandom and Bryke give her.

Katara is such a wonderful person. She gives her heart to those around her and she trusts people even when they don’t deserve it. How many times did she look after her friends and brother and not get the appreciation she deserved? More times than I care to count right now. But did that ever stop her? No. She always gave her all. Even when Aang was being really unfair to her in the desert she didn’t stop trying to save them. And she did. She saved her friends so many times and you see it throughout the show.

She didn’t get the happy ending I would have liked for her. Honestly, her ending is a little bittersweet for me because she had a family but she wasn’t appreciated enough by the world and honestly it doesn’t seem like Aang was a great husband, which doesn’t shock me. I know she cared about him but I think her and Zuko would have made a much better marriage then her and Aang.

I will always admire her loving nature though. She is so good. She is so special.

They were so real. They were so relatable. I want more.

I love Katara so much. My heart is so full of love for her. When I was a kid first watching the show she meant so much to me as a brown native girl who never saw such positive representation on TV before. But I hate how they treated her at the end of the show and in LOK. She is so strong, so kind, so full of love and she was stuck with Aang who never understood her or treated her the way she deserved. I feel like her ending up alone would have been better or have her and Zuko find love after the end of ATLA. Even if it meant her and Aang being together briefly and she realizes she deserves better than him. It makes me so sad we didn’t get to see that. I feel like even if he treated her a little better she was still too mature for him and he was too childish and flighty and she lost her mom and was separated from her dad for years so she needed someone stable, who wouldn’t run.

It hurts my heart for her that she didn’t get a better forever love. She deserved it after everything she gave in the show. She grew so much!! And she was so brave and strong. I think she needed someone like Zuko who not just matched it but understood her on a deeper level.
