The mission is called APEP, for Atmospheric Perturbations around Eclipse Path !

Except, when you remember that everyone working at NASA is a gigantic nerd, you may find that the name DOES sound familiar!

Apep is another name for Apophis. An ancient Egyptian deity of darkness, whose sole purpose was to swallow the sun.

there's a poem in so many things everywhere i think. how we're still making glass drinkware because we love to see the little swirls inside even though we can make cheaper, sturdier, non-transparent materials. how the sun from which comes all energy on earth is currently blinding me, reflected on my computer screen. how the little weed my neighbour didn't want to remove in his garden turned out to be a grape vine. how the pigeons that now live among us are a testimony to the time they helped us connect and share. in a way this is all for them
