Elves and Shiny things: A true story

Welcoming back your friend when you thought they were dead five minutes ago, a lesson by Legolas.
-Thranduil-
Weâve come to tell you payment of your debt has been offered and accepted.
Thranduilâs broken heart (original version): Shortly after losing his wife and Queen ĂlĂșriel, Thranduilâs sadness, anger and passion collide for a heart-wrenching moment that sets his path to his enigmatic rule forever.
â
Having another thunderstorm over here, so Iâm going to attempt to do something between the rain drops and lightening.
I swearâevery time I have to do something⊠@fortunatelyclevercandy handle things for meâIâm having a diva moment.
âRain, rain go away, Iâve got to be Thranduil today.â
Day 1: I think I should keep track of everything I do with Thranduil and his book, The Saga of Thranduil. I kept a diary on Facebook about my journey from the beginning of this journey to recently and how things have changed. I grew up with Thranduil as it were. Iâm sad that Iâm almost done but not entirely finishedâthere are still adventures left to be had; one of them coming on Thranduil Thursdayâanother monumental first will come on that day for TKWRT. I look forward to it as much as it terrifies me. Also, Thranduilâs story isnât over yetâthereâs more to add to the Extended Version (and some in the original version). I do look forward to his infancy in Book I: The Epic of Eryn Galen. Happy Isilya (Monday).
What a journey it has been. âïž I am proud to have been allowed to go on this adventure.
At midnight, the countdown to the the next re-release of Book II: The Saga of Thranduil. I have yet do decide what day or for how long; usually I would choose Fatherâs Day to do it (and something will definitely go out on that day), but this time, a lot of weirdness is at stake. I got my mojo backâit was on vacation.Â
Also canât wait to continue the epic story going on in Book I: The Epic of Eryn Galen. About to go through five battles or somethingâBeleriand will just become a big olâ mess soon.Â
Anyway, this will be a multi-site thing: The Kingdom of the Woodland Realm has a Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, WordPress, Google+, Flickr accounts on top of Tumblr. Just a heads up out thereâŠfor all you Leoples out there (just learned that word) and PacersâI think thatâs what that means. Look for hints in the last two Tuesdays and Thursdays of May (Legolasâ Birthday Month). This should be a whole lot of fun. Maybe I should have prizes or something. AnywayâŠoff to work on something.Â
Based on The Kingdom of the Woodland Realm Trilogy, Legolas is as old as Thranduil has been Kingâfor 2900 years. Technically, that means Legolas was conceived on Thranduilâs coronation day. (FYI: Thranduil is not a morning person, by the wayâhe likes lingering in bed as most readers know).
Which is why by the time of the Battle of the Five Armies we know that Legolas is 2941 years old. He had to have been born in 41 Third Ageâwhich interestingâin elven yearsâwouldnât have been too long after the death of Oropher in the last year the Second Age that put Thranduil on the Throne after the death of his father.
And thatâs why we celebrate Legolasâ Birthday and Conception in Mayâexactly nine months to the day of Thranduilâs coronation. Happy AldĂșya (Treesday/Tuesday) Happy LĂłtessĂ« (Flower-Month/May). Also fitting he would be born on Treesday as Tolkien describes Legolas as being as tall as a tree in The Lord of the Rings.
FACT: The reason I use Lasgalen (Greenleaf) rather than just âGreenleafâ is because there are two Legolasâ in Tolkien; the first was Legolas Greenleaf of Gondolin. Legolas is said to mean âGreenleafâ but it was also spelled in Nandorin as Laegolas, which, interestingly enough works well with his having a mother of Nandorin/danwaith descent. Correctly translated, Le-golas would mean âto thee-the foliageâ or âheir to the foliageâ or simply âPrinceâ. With Legolas Lasgalen, you are technically saying âPrince Greenleafââkeeping the tradition of Legolas being a Prince of the Woodland Realm and keeping the moniker âGreenleafâ by making it part of his throne name (as in Thranduil TĂĄrisil Oropherion) that has become legend in Tolkien/Middle Earth circles.
It is not sure if Legolas was named after the first Legolas (or as it is in my story Ălengolas, father of Thranduilâs mother Nimeithel), but I do know that what happens next in Book I, will have something to do with events that happen that do included the first Legolasâperhaps. đ€«
