A retelling of the 05/18/26 San Diego Mosque shooting with timeframes
9:42 AM: The concerned mother of 17-year-old Cain Lee Clark called the police to raise awareness of her son. She expressed that her son had left the house wearing a camouflage hat, a camouflage jacket, black pants, and black boots. She explained that he was with a man whom she had never seen before, and that man is now identified as 18-year-old Caleb Vazquez. Vazquez was last seen wearing an army green camouflage jacket and tan baggy pants. She notes that Clark and Vazquez met on the internet. In this phone call, she informed police that she had believed that a ̷f̷̷i̷̷r̷̷e̷a̷̷r̷̷m̷ was stolen from her home, but she didn't know if Vazquez had taken it or her son. She provided a description of her son's vehicle and his license plate number. As a result of this phone call, officers were able to track Clark's vehicle and sent both descriptions of the men to the correct fields. The dispatcher then urged Clark's mother to call back with any more updates. 10:41 AM: The mother calls back and explains that more weapons than initially thought were found stolen from the home. She adds that she believes that her son might've taken them, and that she had found a potential ̷s̷̷u̷̷i̷̷c̷̷i̷̷d̷̷e̷ note near her son's computer. Clark's mother expresses that she had found threatening and hate-filled writings on her son's computer. 10:50 AM: The call is then upgraded to a priority 1 call for potential acts of violence against one or more people. A priority 1 police phone call is an emergency call where a police officer is required to prevent a life-or-death type of situation. 10:54 AM: Two dispatchers arrive at Cain Clark's mother's house, and it is shortly after this, at 11:10 AM, that these two dispatchers learn about the potential ̷s̷̷u̷̷i̷̷c̷̷i̷̷d̷̷e̷ pact Clark and Vazquez had made together and gather additional information about the situation. 11:31 AM: Clark's vehicle had been spotted by the ALPR (Automated License Plate Reader) heading eastward in the Mission Valley area in California. 11:37 AM: Clark's mother informs the dispatchers that Clark may be headed to a store he liked in the Mission Valley area, and officers are then dispatched there to check. 11:41 AM: Vazquez and Clark arrive at the Islamic Center. 11:42 AM: The San Diego police then received the first call about shots being fired in the Islamic Center of San Diego, California. The call is automatically sent to all dispatching units in the area. 11:46 AM: The first officers arrive on scene, and by then, the two teenagers had fled back to their car and had left the Islamic Center. 11:56 AM: Another call comes in about shots fired in the 7100 block of Salenro St. A landscaper was struck in the head, fortunately he was wearing a helmet and had only sustained minor injuries. 12:03 AM: The two suspects were then found ̷d̷̷e̷̷c̷̷e̷a̷̷s̷̷e̷̷d̷ in Clark's vehicle due to ̷s̷̷e̷̷l̷̷f̷-̷i̷̷n̷̷f̷̷l̷̷i̷̷c̷̷t̷̷e̷̷d̷ ̷g̷̷u̷̷n̷̷s̷̷h̷̷o̷̷t̷ ̷w̷̷o̷̷u̷̷n̷̷d̷̷s̷ on the block of 3800 Hatton St. Once the live stream of their ̷m̷a̷̷s̷̷s̷a̷̷c̷̷r̷̷e̷ was released onto ̷w̷a̷̷t̷̷c̷̷h̷̷p̷̷e̷̷o̷̷p̷̷l̷̷e̷̷d̷̷i̷̷e̷.̷t̷̷v̷, it was then discovered that Vazquez had begged for Clark to ̷s̷̷h̷̷o̷̷o̷̷t̷ him in the head, which was ultimately what Clark had done. source
