When the song Lost Boy first came out I said to myself that I could see Leighton dancing to that AND GUESS WHAT HER SOLO IS

@dancersfierce - this is Leighton’s mom. You don’t know how much that means to me. When Rachel started with Leighton they started with a different song. It was a beautiful song (actually one of my favorites) but I am not going to lie I was a little sad it wasn’t Disney. I knew this was probably the last year of Disney but I also knew Rachel has picked the PERFECT song for Lei each year and she would not disappoint. By the next rehearsal the song had changed to Lost Boy and admittedly so Lei was a little hesitant but after her first time with the song she knew it was the perfect song for her. Side note - Leighton grew up a Disney baby. I started performing in the Disney parades when I was 17 and left at 25. I met my husband there (he is NOT a dancer). So Disney will always have a special place in our hearts ♥️

Thank you Miss @candice_mccarty who pushes each and everyone of us to our potential whether we are age 4 or age 8. She guides, supports and loves each of us with her ❤️. What a difference 3 years (and 4 months) make as I grow up at @ocpaaofficial

I dont have a tumblr so I'm just gonna comment my trends I really want to end in the 17-18 season if thats ok. 1. slow ass contemp solos (duh) 2. TIGHTS OVER THE LEOTARD (whyyy is this still a thing) 3. acting like its cool for 10 year olds to be dancing "mature" (theres a difference between dancing above your age & dancing like you are 18 when you are 10) 4. talking about which young dancers are "mean" vs. "nice"(lets face it, its hard enough to be 13) anyway thanks for all you do carrie u rock

yea i agree with we need to stop commenting on a 10 year olds personality based on their facial expression in a video.

@carmodance - this is Lisa (Leighton's mom). Re: the tights over leotards, I had such a laugh over that. For years I took ballet and couldn't wait until I was older so I could wear my tights over my leotard. I still remember the first class I went rogue and wore them over. I wore them like that all through college while I was still taking classes and even when I danced for Disney. To this day I have no clue why I wore them like that when I was younger? Maybe it was a way of feeling rebellious? Years later after kids I went back to ballet for a while and I still wore my tights over my leo but that was for different reasons - I felt like I could pull them up to hide post baby weight 😂

this time last year I found @leighton_dances crying because she knew it would be her last time with "baby mine" the most perfect first solo. Now it's my turn to cry knowing this is Lei's last time with "when she loved me" the most fitting and perfect solo for her this year. Truly from the bottom of my heart thank you @missrachelmiller for getting Lei. Side note - this child of mine may have gotten rid of her princess dolls and dresses this week but she still sleeps with her pink baby and dumbo 😉

lol @ the discussion about why countdown or whatever won't post their schedule... they don't post so people like you can't go on and look when they're not paying. comps are all about the $ and they probably email it to the people who actually need it.

Please explain how not posting the schedule or results online saves money???

@carmodance I too am still confused why some comps don't post schedules. In response to anon - even when we do pay we often only get our studio's schedules. The only thing I can think of where money can be made is on the programs so in that sense anon could be right.

whenever possible we try to get the kids to support one another at each other's activities. #leilapie
