Sociologists use the term “androcentrism” to refer to a new kind of sexism, one that replaces the favoring of men over women with the favoring of masculinity over femininity. According to the rules of androcentrism, men and women alike are rewarded, but only insofar as they are masculine (e.g., they play sports, drink whiskey, and are lawyers or surgeons w00t!). Meanwhile, men are punished for doing femininity and women… well, women are required to do femininity and simultaneously punished for it.

The Twi'lek woman tossed purple lekku over her shoulder, humming to herself as she opened the box. A wedding ring. An oldfashioned set of robes and headgear that fit her perfectly, glowing with the Force and with healing power. A set of not one, but five teaching holocrons. That should be worth study once she'd found a place to settle for the night. A datapad. Hmm.

Business receipts from some Jedi Enclave? Wasn't charoite some kind of purple stone? The lovely Twi'lek looked thoughtfully at the datapad in her hand. The ways of the Force were beautiful sometimes. These people had been part of a healing and crafting order, back in the time of the Old Republic, about 300 years after her own ship had been trapped in an anomaly.
She thanked again the mercy of the Jedi who'd found her floating helpless in space, and fed her rather than killing her for her part in the destruction of Ossus.
Now she lived, and they were long dead. Her ship had crashed near theirs for a reason. Yes. She would study these holocrons and grow strong again. Perhaps these holocrons could help her learn to put her past behind her, and start anew - this time as a Jedi.
