not really sure if anyone’s still around but ???? hey?
had a pretty busy day, be on again tomorrow!

She sighed, unsure if she wanted to know where or why she was here. “I’m afraid not,” Shadia admitted. “It can’t be good, though, if I’m in a cell.” It was useless being nervous at this point, so she tried to brush it off.
“Oh.” So that meant she’d have to start from scratch, which wasn’t unusual, just a fair bit tougher than filling in the gaps when someone had an idea of what was going on. She hated being the bearer of bad news, even if she was able to deliver it a lot more gently than others. “You were probably kidnapped, then. N-Not sure why. We’re on an island to be slaves.” Lola left out the supernatural part, finding that much too hard to attempt to explain. “It might sound... really bad to you, but if you just watch yourself and try to behave, you’ll be okay.”
x-synthetic:
“ If it wasn’t okay, I wouldn’t have offered. So, sit.. or don’t. “
“Right.” That made sense. Lola was far over cautious at times. She tentatively settled down a few feet away from the Mistress. “Sorry for blocking your light. Are you trying to tan or something?”

Jamie shrugged his shoulders, unsure of exactly how he would react. “I-I don’t know..I don’t know how to feel right now.”
“I know. That’s fine.” His nerves were on par with most others when they woke up there. “Y-You’ll be fine.” But for some reason, her nerves were joining in, too, and kept her from wanting to get to the point. “Do you remember anything before this? Do you, um, owe anyone or something?”

At one point in time, Noah was certain that he had an order to the madness that kept him propelling himself into the cell doors but after the second spray of blood from his nostrils went unpitied, Noah’s resolve withered into ashes and he was left with nothing but his hard-headed determination to cajole someone into letting him out.
“You’re all a bunch of wankers,” he spat sourly as he glowered through the cell bars. “I could be concussed, malnourished— I could be gangrenous.”
Noah rattled the bars and shouted down the corridor, “Gangrene isn’t very tasty, you know. I have a cousin that’s a cannibal. He says it’s downright awful.”
Lola watched the man repeatedly slam himself into the door with some concern and some intrigue. Most new slaves came with a high degree of desperation to get out, yet he was on a whole new level. When he began speaking, she couldn’t help but give a saddened chuckle. He wouldn’t do well adjusting here at all, and she was sorry knowing she couldn’t help him.
“I-If you’re concussed,” she paused, wondering if that was really the right word — her vocabulary left a lot to be desired at times, “that might be your own fault.” The girl nodded toward the blood streaming down his face. She wasn’t trying to be rude, just state the obvious. “They’ll feed us soon, d-don’t worry about that. And what’s gangrene?”
shadiaxmck:
The woman’s reply was surprisingly calm and had a strange, almost comforting effect on Shadia. Refocusing on her surroundings, she scoffed out a slight, awkward laugh. “As alright as I can be after waking up in a cell,” she joked. Shadia sighed realizing how snarky her response could have sounded. “Sorry, um, joking is kind of a nervous habit of mine.”
“Fair enough.” Whether serious or not, it wasn’t a bad answer, and Lola was more than used to short tempers. So far, it was much less angry and panicked than most interactions she had with new arrivals, and she appreciated it. “It’s fine.” She offered up a subtle smile. “Do you... Know about why you’re here?”
jamesonjfk:
“N-no, don’t touch me. I don’t know who you fucking are and I certainly don’t need you anywhere near me. Tell me- tell me what’s going on?”
“I-I wasn’t going to.” She backed off further into her own cell, away from the man, understanding his attitude. “S-Sorry. Will you b-be calm if I tell you?”

Mason had heard whispers among the other breakers that someone was to be punished today, but he didn’t know who. Regrettably he wasn’t able to be there, but he found out soon enough who the miscreant had been. “It can’t be that hard to think of what you did,” he said, tone condescending as he stopped outside of her cell. “Talk back? Hit a guard? There aren’t many options.”
Usually if Lola was punished, she was aware of what she’d done. Highly aware and extremely guilty — she knew she deserved it. Of course there were rare times it just happened in order to keep her in check, a little reminder of her place, not that she ever forgot it. She kept silent at his comment, not wanting to oppose even that — it was hard to think of what she’d done. “N-No. I wouldn’t d-do that, Sir.” It hurt to think that she hadn’t made this clear.

She smirked, holding back the laugh she almost let out. “ It’s a reminder of who’s in charge. Which is not us… they do it because they can. They don’t need a reason behind it. “ Sliding her arms through the bars, her chin jerked just a smidge. “ How bad is it? “
“B-But I know w-who’s in charge—” Lola knew and respected it very well, and she had her own set of logic to back it up. Behave and she’d be fine, misbehave and this would happen. It was what she’d been taught for years, even when actual happenings hadn’t quite matched up. She shook her head, “N-Not so bad.” That wasn’t true, but the following was. “Had a lot w-worse before.” The girl sighed, trying to calm herself again. “S-Sorry, I’ll be q-quiet.” Crying and complaining wouldn’t help anything.

diana only arrived after most of the action seemed to have faded away. there was only a naked girl huddled in a cell, crying and shivering. perking up, diana looked down the hallway to see another breaker disappearing. well, if they were done playing… “ not a clue, sweetheart, but you seemed to have pissed off someone. ”
The slave curled up with her back against the wall, staring at the floor. Clearly she needed to be even more on edge at all times, watch what she said and did even more painstakingly. “I-I know, M-Ma’am,” she breathed, wiping at her tears as if she could make them disappear instantly. “I w-wasn’t t-trying to.”
xx-harper-xx:
Give and take - that was the way of life in the cells. You gave attitude, you took a beating. You gave a look, you took a beating. You gave… nothing, you took a beating. She didn’t see the girl being lead away, but she watched as they carried her back to the cage. She knew the look, the pain. And with an inward wince, she watched as the girl did her best to cover herself up. With the question, Harper leaned her forehead against the bar of her own cell. “ You make it sound like we actually need to do something to get beat. “
The question hadn’t necessarily been for anyone around her, mainly just a despairing thought aloud. But it was something she wanted an answer to — or just a response, which was what she got in the end. She lay back, holding the blanket in place, and turned over until the woman’s voice had a face to match. “I-I’ve b—b-been good,” she whimpered, taking a deep breath to slow her tears. She had to be stronger than that. “W-We do. It’s a... a threat. F-For being bad.”
When one of the slave breakers had taken Lola out, she hadn’t thought there was anything to worry about — she’d been on her best behavior since arriving. But when they entered his office and he delved straight into a harsh beating, recoloring her slowly healing bruises, she had to wonder. Tears finally welled in her eyes as she was tossed back into her cell without clothes; she dragged herself to her cot and pulled the thin blanket around her shaking frame. “W-What’d I do?”
shadiaxmck:
Shadia looked around, unfamiliar with her surroundings. Despite feeling foggy headed she could tell that she was in some sort of cellblock. She decided to take her chances. Walking over to the bars of the cell door she shook them, but as she had suspected, they were locked. “Hello?” She called out into the echoing corridor.
The cells were fairly quiet for once, leaving Lola lost in thought without a distraction. It was as peaceful as it could get, but she didn’t necessarily like it. When the questioning greeting rang in her ears, her head turned to its source, finding the unfamiliar woman nearby. “Hey,” she called back softly, preparing herself to explain the situation yet again, “You alright?”
