phil happy :)
Hiii!!! I like your work a lot (just discovered you). I think it's very interesting and I wanted to know a bit more about your process?? Would you say it's rooted more in a surrealist or automatist-type way of work?? Thanks in advance have a nice day/evening/afternoon
Hooooo⦠a lot to say in response to this one! I think I would say automatist, just with my more RECENT stuff. My older art is a lot of more veristic, (like the globe graphite drawing Iāve done,) but really, I feel like both of these labels donāt accurately capture the entirety of my work!
My newer stuff is automatist because Iāve found that planning my art or trying to make it looks a certain level of āsurrealist,ā or any one category, really takes away a lot of my passion. Thatās why recently, I have been making more art that comes from an unconscious part of me, where I paint what Iām feeling and see what happens from there.
Like the āfetusā painting I did not long ago, I was making that while missing my mom, but I didnāt really plan to draw a fetus while I was working on it. I just felt that I missed her, and I did what my hands asked of me in that moment.
I also donāt align with the surrealist movement as much as did a few years ago or even last September or so, Iām really trying to break myself out of definitive genres or categories of art, and just paint/depict what makes me happy :-)
ā¦But this does not mean that I no longer make art work that I carefully plan! Or that Iām dropping psychedelic art forever! It just that particular, āfocused stuffā ends up taking way longer because of my perfectionist tendencies š ā¦
Thank you for the question!! I hope youāll stick around!
Art meditation #8: āAfterthoughtā
For this one, I used acrylic and oil pastel. I was trying to show how it feels to be both hopeful and nervous. Really, to have very big, very mixed feelings.
Iāve been super heavy on the primary colors recently, and the sort of accepted muddy-ness. This makes a lot of paintings look a bit similar, but they all manage to still be their own :-)
Itās nothing special, but I hope you enjoy!
Art meditation #9: āGirlsā
I like the weird textures in this one. Thereās a lot going on, with thick paint globs, and little dots, and streaky lines, and almost veiny movements of paint.
I think thereās a lot of good, beautiful, exciting things about being a girl and knowing girls, and a lot of things about girlhood that are scary, or infuriating, or just plain unjust.
Anyway, thatās it, hope you like it!
Art meditation #7: āAppointmentā
I painted this while waiting for a doctors appointment. There is also a bottom layer underneath of colored pencil lines.
For whatever reason, I was feeling nervous. Itās interesting to see how my feelings translated into this piece, with the scratchy black lines and big strokes.
Ultimately, I share these sorts of things hoping someone can connect with them, so thatās why itās out here.
Wishing you all well, and please enjoy!
Art meditation #5 āNature Sceneā
I am posting these out of order for now
Materials used: acrylic
Not really abstract but not NOT
Art Meditation #6: āOlive Garden Kissesā
Materials used: acrylic
Can you tell I really like the fan brush?
Also this looks more blue in real life, I donāt understand why the camera has such a hard time capturing the true hue of my work, this is a consistent issue I have and I try to edit my stuff so it appears more as it does in real life but I donāt have much success :-(
Anyway, enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Art Meditation #2: Superman Icecream
Materials used: acrylic
I really really liked how the paint knife showed all the layers of color in this one. It came out way better than I expected. Hope you like it!!!!!!!!!
Portrait of me many a year ago, floating in the void of not quite being here yet.
Materials used for this were acrylic and air dry clay. Iāve really been playing around with structure recently, and in this piece specifically, I like how itās used to add dimension to a space that isnāt actually tangible.
Enjoy this crumb!
Art Meditation #1: āDragon Printā
Materials used: acrylic, oil pastel, felt tip pen
Hello! This came to be because I had a lot of extra paint on my palette from a separate project, and wanted it to go to use. From that, this short series was born. This will all be mostly abstract stuff, I will likely not be posting things in order, sorry if ya hate it!
Iām trying to enjoy making art, even if Iām not depicting anything, because I genuinely like to paint. I think as artists, we should all try to find some sort of reason to create, even when we are insecure about the quality of our work. I really hope you it!
Went canoeing not long ago and decided to paint the river. I ended up adding some colored pencil buffing and framing it. Because of the use of both acrylics and colored pencil, this is officially a mixed media!
Sorry, the lighting in the framed, more recent version is a little terrible š
Hope you all enjoy!
Just a little dump of some misc art I did recently- embroidering of some butterflies in my jeans, and a little face I did in a ceramics shop. Not too crazy, but will hopefully bring something good to your day!
Note: Hey, I just noticed Iām wearing those same jeans when I took the second picture!
Funny how things turn out!
Hello!
This is a mixed media project I did for art class. It is a fairy riding a Kelpie. Materials used are acrylic paint, colored pencil, alcohol marker, and the tiniest bit of embroidery.
Iām not the worldās most proud of it (the colors all sort of muddle together) but I do hope that the internet may find some pleasure in it.
Enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Hello! Back to my ā200 drawing prompts,ā here is ālightning strike.ā This is technically a mixed media, although itās not as obvious! I used acrylic paint, colored pencil, and nail polish. (Nail polish for some the squiggly bits of the lightning, if you were wonderingā¦)
Based off of a photograph by SurfJKS!
Just thought Iād share, hope you like šš
Went through my old ā200 Drawing promptsā and figured this needed to see the light of day. From the looks of it, itās only colored pencil and marker. I remember this girl is based off of Aphrodite. Hope you all enjoy, people of tumblr!
Hello!
This is a project I did recently, of an owl slowly turning into a building. Or a building slowly turning into an owlā¦
It was done with construction paper, acrylic paint, and black colored pencil. I actually ended up adding some clouds and a moon to sky, so itās lacking some visual interest there in this picture, but I no longer have it to take a corrective image!
The official title is, āWhat a Hoot!ā
Hope you all enjoy this guy!
Some draft panels of Kate Bush from her wuthering heights music video.
UGH, I could go on and on about much I love that video, and I have loved it long before seeing any movie or any Margot Robbie came out or whatever,
She is so talented I love her
Enjoy!
