There is no world in which the violence perpetrated by the Sentatobia police is justified, least of all for the alleged theft of diapers.
Let’s be clear. In response to a young family’s desire to keep their son safe, clean, and healthy, the police wantonly fired into an allegedly fleeing vehicle. But the Senatobia police responded with the same excessive violence that the police deal out to all working people - violence intended not to protect our communities, but the financial interests of the few.
In the SAME week that we saw the first trillionaire, a young Black baby was murdered over a pack of pampers. Its horrific.
The latest post by the city of Senatobia briefly acknowledges the loss of a child (NOT EVEN NAMING KOHEN) before they launch into asking us to please won’t you keep the mental health of the poor cops in mind. Reprehensible.
Today there was a rally at a city council meeting. Outraged citizens of Mississippi rallying to demand an external investigation and the release of body cam footage. How did the city respond?
