Late night rant but this whole durag bonnet conversation genuinely pisses me off not only as an HBCU student but also as a southerner bc a lot of the people who are arguing that not wearing bonnets and durags outside is a part of upholding a “standard” and that going outside “unkempt” should be shameful. These very same people are saying that what white people do and how they carry on at their universities has nothing to do with us or this conversation. But where this supposed “standard” stem from? What does wearing a head scarf or bonnet that protects your hair have to do with being “unkempt”? Matter of fact, where does this notion of our hair and our hair coverings being seen as “unkempt” stem from? 🤔 and it’s not lost on me that these notions of upholding certain “standards” and feeling as though Black people existing in our natural, chill states being unkempt stems from the same line of thought that suggests that Black women must have cancer chemicals routinely put in their heads and Black men must keep their hair cut short in order to look “presentable” and appeal to the standards of “professionalism”. The very same professionalism that would even allow a kink or a coil be seen in the workplace just some years ago. It’s just really irritating me that in the big 2026 we’re still having these redundant, tired ass, anti-black conversations, when every other day a Black person is coming up missing or hung and so much more that’s going on throughout our world and throughout the diaspora. It’s especially uninspiring seeing a lot of this vitriol come from our elders, when they’re the ones we’re supposed to look for guidance and not for the same oppressive rhetorics to be sowed into our heads.

Repaired my game bc my sims weren’t able to cook anything and the fucking ea app automatically updated my game and omg I think some are my packs are going to be gone OMG 😭😭😭😭
