What "lies" are Mexicans Americans spreading? Or rebloging?
There was this event last weekend, where a bunch of teachers gathered up in a “peaceful” protest in Oaxaca, and the government tried to shut them down, which has been happening for months now. But since they couldn’t control them, the cops and what not started killing off people, what’s new. Anyways, xicanos/gringos/ignorant mexicans, are going around saying that the teachers are some sort of saints, innocent people, who just were protesting about them not being allowed to teach social justice in the classroom.
This is a fucking lie. All those teachers gathered up cause they lost their jobs and they are pissed about it. See, there’s this thing that got implemented in Mexico called “Reforma educativa” which states that in order to improve public education in Mexico all the teachers must take a test and prove that they can actually teach things to students. The test is meant to ask basic stuff, that them as teachers should have been taught and should actually know in order to ensure that the education is well provided.
See, in Mexico most teachers (definitely not all) get their jobs based on their contacts, or even by just having any family member give them their position when they retire. No need to go to college, or actually get prepared to be a teacher, they just take the job. There’s “teachers” teaching P.E, science and history, like? So because of this the education in Mexico fucking sucks, and the students are getting screwed over bc of it. So since they obviously failed the test, they got pissed and decided to not give classes anymore and start protesting, which left hundreds of kids without classes for months, some even lost the whole school year. The government then chose to replace those empty spots with actual good teachers, and the protestors got even angrier, and started shutting down more schools in different states (in not a pacific way) and what not just because they wanted their job back without getting tested ever again….
See? They ain’t saints, they aren’t good people, they aren’t even fighting for a good cause? They are fighting bc they got called out on how dumb they actually are lol. They also got called out on how lazy they are, since most of them didn’t even bother to show up to class before this reforma was made official. Also, some xicana is claiming that the students support the teachers, and no they do not. The students have protested against the shitty education they were given, and they actually want this whole mess to stop so they can go to school and get proper education.
So, if any xican@ or mexican wants to talk about what happen in Oaxaca, please don’t spread lies?
I mean even if these points are legitimate (which they probs are since education and criminal justice systems in Mexico are corrupt and in desperate need of improvements, I just like doing my research first after points like these are raised) it doesn’t legitimize or justify the killing of, as of now, 9 people and the wounding of 100 others. Police violence, brutality, and murder against its own citizens is a HUGE problem in Mexico because of corruption as mentioned before. Even if these were shitty teachers they didn’t deserve to die or be shot at or attacked in such a brutal manner of which they have been and without warning according to witnesses, just for airing grievances or protesting. Yes, false information or more detailed facts should be spread about the education reform and about the conflict at hand but the emphasis on these people not being “innocent” on yr post makes it seem like their deaths were justified and I just felt I needed to say something about it.
if you read my tags, i never said i agreed on the way the “authorities” handled this situation. i am simply stating the truth behind why the teachers were protesting :) so yeah don’t assume I approve of something as nasty as killing people.
I didn’t read your tags since im on mobile and my app opens this link to a random post and not this specific one but my apologies. However, I think it would be cool if you added those points to yr original post since its very easy to take it that way for people that don’t follow you or can’t see the tags for whatever reason. Again my apologies :)
What are your sources ? I'm trying to do research as well but I'm worried about unreliable sources
