He couldn’t help himself from smiling back at her. He shook his head and laughed at her next comment. “I’m nothing serious at all.”

“Oh really?” Len raised her eyebrows at him, supressing her typical impertinent grin. “I could work with that, if you’d want to join me on my youngest night mysteries.”

Ren made another face of disgust and shook his head at the brunette’s words. “Whatever it is, it’s terrible. Definitely not worth 400 dollars.” The Italian said, chuckling a bit at the whole idea of him being at this fancy event to begin with. “Well, by all means, show me the way, oh wise one.” Ren stated with a small smirk, watching her extend her hand out to him with the palm facing up. It was like a princess in the movies the way she introduced herself. Ren took her hand in his, bowing and bringing her hand to his lips to place a small kiss. “M’lady, pleasure to meet you. I’m Ren.” He said, taking the prince role a bit too dramatically.

“That lies, of course, in the eye of the beholder” Len took another sip of the champagne, only to set it on a bar table and forget completely about it, but that was exactly what her life was in a nutshell. “You seem to have gotten somethings, Ren.”, she smiled deviously. “Just two rules: Number one- don’t let anyone see you do those, though very Prince Charming, you may even cause the next scandal. Number two- avoid anyone who introduces themself as anything Lauder.”

               “what is wrong with my messy hair and ripped jeans?” her shoulders shook with a derisive laughter. “i think i’m fabulous enough with my sequined blouse.—– but it looks like you are doing pretty well with fancy dresses.” jez shrugged. “not my style.” 

“nothing, i guess, at least if you’re not here to represent like a designer or someone of that sorts.”, she replied, half-smile on her face. her personal days of rebellion against the dress code may have passed, but she still enjoyed them like the next best thing. “I kind of grew up into it” len mustered her aghal gown before looking up to the woman again. “i kinda love the dresses more than the events”

Catalina scoffed at the other’s comment. “The last time I came to an event like this, I was an escort and that was around four years ago so… do your math. Now I’m a friend’s plus one and damn, all of this is just as pretentious as I remembered.” 

Len bit her lip to restrain herself from asking her, whether or not it had been her cousin to bring her- he’d be one to do so, but instead she just tilted her head with a small smile. “Well, the only place more fake than these are high school reunions.”, she laughed. “but it’s really enjoyable, once you’re over that”

“What gave it away? Was it the paint,” Quinn asked as she held up her hands which remained flecked with colors despite her washing them many times. “Sometimes they have to cover it with makeup at my photoshoots.”

“Kind of”, Len admitted, slightly giggling. “But really, there’s something about a genuine smile, that stands out here.”, she laughed it off as she shook her head. “I’m Len… and I’ve definetly seen your face somewhere.”

A little lost was being nice to describe Ren’s state in the fancy ball his cousin dragged him to. While the man looked fine in the tailored black suit, the tips of tattoos poking out from the edges of his sleeves and scruff growing on his face sat the man apart from the clean shaven, rich men. “Kinda wonderin’ how I ended up here, to be honest.” He muttered aloud, the slight Italian accent of his clinging onto his low tone. A waiter passed by with glasses of champagne and Ren grabbed one, taking a sip before making a face. “Yuck. I don’t know how people drink this sh-stuff.” He at least stopped himself from shouting out a curse word in the place. His eyes turned to the brunette that spoke to him, sensing the ease she was in. Ren thought it looked as if she belonged among the fanciness of the room and he was photo-shopped in. “Uh, sorry. This is like, a weird environment for me. Hi.” He said with a half-smile.

Len, as well as the handsome stranger, carefully reached for a flute of champagne. She observes him, barely containing a laugh “You’re drinking 400 Dollar Plénitude 1995 Dom Pérignon it’s not only about the taste”, Len let him know with a smirk as she took a sip. “But I’ll admit, this is not what reality is made of, but I’ll gladly show you your way around- I’m kind of an expert on this.” Len offered her hand, princess-style, as would anyone would’ve guessed she would. “I’m Hélène.”

“Well, don’t you look a little lost between all these people in fancy dress?”, Len smirked as she took another look around the well-dressed guests. This was her natural habitat, where she was truely Hélène.

“oh my god, ew, alex! don’t tell me those things”, len exclaimed, disgust all over her face, while she carefully wet papertowels. “this is definetly not what i thought i’d sign up for when looking for roomates.” she sighed, but had a concerned look on her face. “face up” carefully, she removed the blood from his face.

Len raised one eyebrow at him, smiling provocatively. “Let’s see, then.” Len’s eyes wandered around his face for a moment, before nonchalantly brushing back her hair. “If I’m the mystery, then what are you?”

“That’s so sad, I thought, now that we’ve met twice we’re meant to be”, she laughed lightly, shaking her head, sending her curls flying everywhere. “It’s Len. And let’s just say, that I am not interested in being found, when running is so much more fun.”
