Just for the record, I do not want to take another personality test/type indicator thing for work ever again. I know what my MBTI is, what my enneagram is. I’ve lived with my most likely autistic self my entire life and am pretty self aware in my sixth decade. Putting me into a bucket that somewhat describes me but actually doesn’t so that other people can interact with me some prescribed way to “get results” is not helpful. If you pay attention to people and not make them a number and a bunch of letters in a spreadsheet, interactions get a lot easier. FFS.

I don't think I like the Internet anymore.

I've been here since the beginning. Since the 300 baud acoustic couplers connecting to local BBS beginnings. Since the Internet was gopher and lynx. Connecting to a bigger world full of people who thought like me and were interested in the same things as me was life changing. I have built my entire life and career around creating connections between people through technology. I thought it was one of humankind's greatest gifts.

But now? It's awful. More than that, it's the source of everything that's awful everywhere. All our divisions. All our hate. All our misinformation. It's destroying connections everywhere, even those thought to be unbreakable.

My online hobbies? Unenjoyable. The sites I used to visit? Gone, or transformed into something unrecognizable. It's all Twitter/X full of hate, or Facebook full of AI misinformation, or Reddit full of who knows what. Even the bedrocks of the Internet, like Google, are almost useless now. The entire Internet has become some form of 4chan.

So I refresh Tumblr over and over, because it's still a slice of what once was. I don't know what else is worth it anymore.
