V&A David Bowie Exhibition Project- I Always Had The Repulsive Need to Be Something More Than Human
I always had the repulsive need to be something more than human is a short film inspired by a David Bowie quote of the same name.
The film portrays a genderless, ethereal being, ‘repulsively’ and repeatedly reinventing its identity.
Initially inspired by mime, I always had the repulsive need to be something more than human nods towards the simplicity of David Bowie’s first short film under the influences of Lindsay Kemp – The Mask.
The film creates a feeling of introverted confinement by sanitising an otherwise warm living space to unearth hyperrealism within reality.
It secretes an alluring feeling of monotony, which is reinforced by a backdrop of silence.
