passed around like a parcel: Practicing portraits [Leon & Floree]
Floree could see she’d made the right decision and it showed on Leon’s face. She smiled and chuckles a little.
She turned round as Leon came up to her just as the last poster was being hung up. She smiled brightly getting that feeling you get when you know you’ve made someone else very happy. “No problem, it’s my pleasure.” She too was going to walk away until his voice called over. She turned around. “Oh right, yes! Of course. Erm…well you know Arthur right? I’m in his Classics class. I do art as well so I’m around there a lot. I guess you could have my number too? I mean it’d be easier for you to get hold of me.” She scrambled to get a piece of paper and pen out of her bag and scribbled down her number and held it out for him. “There you go. When ever you need me.” She nodded and started to back away, smiling.
"Yeah, I know Arthur, grew up together." He smiled at the memories passing through his head, not mentioning that they'd actually lost contact for a while. Wasn't relevant to the conversation, so he left it out purposely.
Leon nodded thankfully when getting her number. "Thanks a lot, I'll be in touch." He smiled, and put the paper in his bag as she walked away. After a moment of trying to figure out where to go and what to do next, he figured checking his schedule and compare it to the timetable for the photoroom could be a good idea. So that's what he ended up doing.
---
They'd decided to do the shoot a few days later, Leon had booked the room the same day they'd made the deal about when. He was getting slightly nervous. Not that he wasn't confident that he could do it, but he was nervous he'd just make her awkward while photographing her. Or make her nervous. Which would probably not result in photos she'd be satisfied with. So he would have to not let his awkwardness about this be contagious.
Hell Machine || Leon & Morgause
“Gregory? The librarian?” Morgause asked, slightly embarrassed that she didn’t know his name by now. But then again, she didn’t come here that often. “Um, I don’t know, I think he’s there now but I didn’t see him. He must have gotten there after I got my copies. They turned out alright, too,” she added, and handed them to him, as she was still carrying them out of her satchel.
“The one you got me was a bit dim, so I tried again… normally I wouldn’t be so picky,” she added, hurriedly, not wanting to seem ungrateful. She pointed to some notes and symbols in the music sheet for Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello, “but when it’s music, if the copy isn’t very clear, you can’t read something well and you’ll struggle forever… it can become a pain in the ass while learning and playing,” she added, returning the boy’s smile.
“I’m Morgause, by the way,” she said, after a pause, “Nice to meet you.”
"Ah, yeah" Leon nodded once, quickly. "Gregory is the librarian." He pointed automatically to where Gregory supposedly was, as a gesticulation. "I've been here often, so calling him by name is a habit now." Leon explained, smiling a little. She excused herself for getting another copy, but it didn't really offend Leon that she'd done so. This copy was much more readable, so it was understandable, really. "Oh, music?" His face lit up with interest. "What do you play?" Leon wasn't very musical himself, but he admired those who were. It was a fascinating art-form to him, though it wasn't something he was passionate about.
The girl introduced herself as Morgause, so Leon introduced himself as well. "I'm Leon." He stretched his arm out to give her a handshake, but realized her hands were full, and quickly pulled it back. He chuckled out a mumble "Old habit, sorry.". "Nice to meet you too." He ended the introduction after he stopped laughing.
A pageturner [Leon & Merlin]
Leon used the library quite frequently, really. Not that he really read a lot of books, but he often went there to print and look up techniques and etc. in manuals and those kind of books. However, this time he just decided to find a random book to read, about some subject he didn't usually dive into. Just to get inspired or learn something new. It was a spontaneous idea, but those were the best ones, after all.
He didn't find any books that were particularly interesting in this row, so he moved to the other side of the shelf, and he spotted someone familiar further down the alley. It took him a few seconds to realize who it was, but he eventually remembered seeing him hang around Arthur. The shelves the guy was going through were under the biology section, so that was probably his degree here at Camelot then. (Leon could remember that course as one of the ones avaliable here, so that was how he got to that conclusion).
He became more curious about Merlin while he were disinterested in the books in this side of the shelf as well, so he decided to approach him. "Hello." he kept his voice down, considering they were in the library. "You're a friend of Arthur, aren't you?" Leon had recently gotten in touch with Arthur again, but they weren't as close as they used to be. Maybe getting to know one of his current closest friends would help getting him into Arthur's social circle again? Merlin seemed like a nice fellow anyway, so it was beneficial to learn about him anyway.
Hell Machine || Leon & Morgause
“Oh, thank you!” said Morgause to the guy, relieved. Hopefully he’d found out what was wrong with it. She waited, patiently, as she checked and double checked everywhere to try to find the problem, until, finally, after opening and closing a lot of places, and pushing a lot of buttons, a photocopy came out.
He must not have liked it, because he didn’t even show it to her. Instead, he pressed some more buttons, and finally another copy came out, which he showed to Morgause.
“This is better, thanks!” she said, smiling. He said he’d go talk to the librarian. People were leaving from the line, which kind of relieved Morgause. “Thanks a lot,” she repeated, as the boy left the copying room to search for the librarian.
Unfortunately, the copy wasn’t that good. It was too dim, and it would be hard for either her or Elena to read it properly. Frowning, she took a look at the machine. It wouldn’t be so difficult to change the settings, right? Except she didn’t know anything about it. So she tried what she always did with her laptop—turn it off and on again.
That seemed to do the trick. Her copies came out fine, and she left the room, which, at this point, she couldn’t tell if it was more or less crowded than when she arrived. As she was leaving the library, she ran into the boy again.
“Hey!” she said, with a smile, “Thanks for your help. I turned it on and off again, and now it seems to be working perfectly fine… Well, at least it was alright for me,” she added with a shrug, “So whatever you did must have worked.” Then she realised he hadn’t really gotten his own copies, “Um, are you heading back to photocopy yours? It’s kind of crowded down there now…”
"Ah, it's nothing." He nodded and smiled with one side of his cheek. "As I've said, I've had to deal with that hellmachine earlier." It was usually for schoolprojects he'd used it, so he'd had to be persistent on battling the thing due to deadlines and stress like that. "I'll just go back later, too crowded." He explained, and quickly added "Crowded with annoyed people, so even worse."
Leon put the pictures into a smaller pocket on his bag, making sure it didn't fold or crumble. "Did you get what you wanted?" He asked politely, biting the edge of his lip. "Did Gregory know what to do?" Gregory usually did though, he was devoted to being a librarian. Not just doing it because it earned him his pay, but because he found it interesting. Leon hoped photography would become his library when it actually became his profession. Librarian was a safer profession though, but maybe the excitement of never being on completely solid ground was what would keep Leon going? He hoped so, at the very least.
Leon curiously(and quite randomly) started trying to recall what photo she'd duplicated. But he hadn't really studied it (he was busy with the machine after all), so he couldn't remember any details. So he quickly gave up, and let his mind wander elsewhere.
Cup of tea [freya/leon]
Freya was taken aback by his invitation. She watched as he sampled his tea and quickly got up to get some sugar. Not wanting to seem rude, she put her messenger bag down and sat on the edge of the wooden chair- like one would sit in a stranger’s house. She idly watched the crowed as she waited for his return.
When he was settled with his sweetened tea, she gave a small smile and slight nod. “I’m Freya,” she answered and carefully took his hand, letting him lead the shake. He felt almost as tentative and shy as she did. “I don’t think so. I don’t really get out much.”
She glanced at his cup. “What kind of tea is that?” she asked, hoping to find something in common with her new table-partner.
"Freya? That's a really nice name!" He smiled. It was a bit unusual without being weird, a bit like his own name. His hair was getting in the way(which it had been doing too often lately), so he pulled the curls half-way covering his face behind his ear.
"Well, I usually just go out to take photos, anyway." He explained honestly. "So I don't really meet a lot of people properly, though I hit up a chat with people I already know." He wasn't much of a social butterfly really, though his socialskills wasn't really terrible either. It had just become a bad habit, really.
"Regular green tea, but it went slightly bitter" he explained, almost meanwhile swallowing his next sip of tea. He usually drank either chai or black tea, but he'd been craving green tea a lot more lately. "Do you have a favourite kind?" he said, noticing the sudden enthusiasm from Freya.

In their element [Percy & Leon]
On one of his usual photosession-walks around the gardens, Leon ended up sitting on a bench, taking pictures while someone were practicing on the football field. He'd been playing when he was younger, but he hadn't really played much the last few years, so he was really out of shape. Football-wise at least, he'd kept himself fit otherwise. Would be nice to start playing once in a while again, though. The constant clicks from the camera were slightly like a background noise by now, he mostly held the button on the camera down constantly. There was no reason to take single shots when the objects were moving constantly. He had left the bench, and were taking photos from different views and angles.
By the time he got back to the bench he'd been sitting on, there was someone else occupying it. A quite buff guy, with a sketchpad on his lap. Leon usually wasn't a fond of sneaking on sneaking on other while they were working(mostly because he found it slightly annoying when people did that to him), but he couldn't help but notice that the guy was talented. Before taking a seat he excused himself for it, though he didn't really need to. It was more of an explanation than an excuse, though. "Sorry, I'm just gonna change the lens, I won't bother you for long." He placed the camerabag on the bench, beside his left knee while looking through the equipmentbag that was now resting on the ground.
The limelight // Arthur & Leon
Arthur lead the way up the path towards the castle and Leon slipped his camera into the bulky bag that was slung from his shoulder. Arthur never pretended to understand art, it was a mysterious and confusing world to him. He looked at Morgana’s paintings and appreciated the colors she used and the scenes she’d painted but in all truthfulness it made no sense to him. Whilst photography definitely seemed a more practical art form, and definitely one fitting of someone like Leon, he still didn’t understand the appeal of standing around and taking photographs of flowers all day.
“To be honest I don’t blame you.” Arthur said, glancing back at his friend who was a few paces behind. “I’d be off travelling too if it weren’t for my father and university and everything.” Or at least that’s what Arthur liked to think he’d do. The prospect of not having any ties or obligations was so foreign it was hard to imagine.
“Maybe one day I will just run away, no goodbyes or anything. Can you recommend anywhere? I’ve always wanted to go to Canada, or Mexico, or like New Zealand or something.” Of course he’d take Merlin with him. He wasn’t really a tie to home or anything, just a travelling companion. Oh god Arthur you have been watching far too much Doctor Who.
“Anyway, how are classes? What does a photography student do all day other than fiddle with… lenses or flashes or whatever you call them.” Arthur spoke with a light, joking tone, but really he was interested- or wanted to be interested. He felt like Leon had lived an entire life without him, like he had to get to know him all over again, although his old friend was still in there somewhere. Arthur was determined to find him, even if it did mean immersing himself in the world of art.
The conversation was still going quite slowly, they used a bit of time to figure out replies. It wasn't particularly silent or awkward though, it just took a while to get used to talking to each other again. Especially after that much time passed by, and after they had both grown into different people than they'd used to be. "You really should, in my opinion." He smiled, encouraging him. It wasn't just to be nice or brag about how it made you a 'wiser person' or anything, but Arthur could certainly need a proper break from his father. If he travelled for a bit, he would be able to learn a bit more on his own, not always doing what his social status back home allowed him/didn't allow him to do. "Do it when you get the oppurtunity, at least." "Well, I've been to South America and Europe, mostly." he scratched his forehead softly. ".. So far." he added with a cheeky smile. "But yeah, just go wherever you want to." In Leon's case he'd picked some of his destinations based on his own echonomy, but that would probably not be such a problem for Arthur. "I'd reccomend not going only to the famous touristcities though. It's nicer visiting small towns and such, in my opinion. But it gets a bit more difficult languagewise, though." Leon stopped there. He easily started rambling on when he talked about travelling (he was quite passionate about that interest too, after all), but he didn't want to bore Arhtur with it either. "I love the classes here! Our teachers are really great." The ending to that was sort of a conversationkiller, really. He bit his lip slightly, plotting out how to keep the conversation going. "Uhm.. What about your classes? And teachers, for that matter?" Leon pulled his hair back, trying to move it away from his eyes. He kind of needed a haircut, but he kind of liked it long too. Arthur's hair was mostly the same as always, but his face looked a lot more mature, so it looked different anyway.
"Are you busy lately?" Leon figured he needed to hang more out with Arthur, while he had the chance. And he wasn't really that busy outside classes either, so he wanted to use that time for something to pass it with. Of course, he'd keep photographing like always. But it wasn't a bad idea to work a bit on getting more of a social-life either.
passed around like a parcel: Practicing portraits [Leon & Floree]
“Yeah…I guess so.” She looked down at her shoes. She could easily tell he really wanted to practice his photography. She was feeling more guilty now that she didn’t think she would say ‘yes’. But she listened to what he had to say anyway. She nodded and surprisingly she felt more at ease.
Floree could tell he knew what he was talking about which gave her more confidence. She smiled at his knowledge and nodded feeling reassured. “Hmm…yeah. You’re absolutely right. Hmm…Well I’ll think about it.” She nodded to him.
She watched him walk away. Frozen in her spot until she called out again. “Leon! Y’know what. Count me in. I’ll do it.” She finalised it. She would take the oportunity which would be good for both of them. She smiled to him.
“Great!” As she accepted, he grinned victoriously. He was getting better at this, trying to put himself out a bit more. It was of course, still a bit awkward. But the fact that he had been able to convince her was proof that he wasn’t terrible at it, anyway.
Leon had finished putting up his share of posters, so he went to check on how Floree was doing. She seemed to be done with hanging her posters up too. “Once again, thanks a lot!” He smiled, and was about to head to the dorms, when he suddenly remembered something he’d forgot to ask. “Uhm, how do I contact you? What classes are you in?” He didn’t want to be too much of a creep or anything, but he kinda needed some contactinfo to be able to plan a photoshoot.
ooc;
sorry for being uberslow i'll get the paras done by tomorrow i've started them, but it's all still just drafts, so..
Focus [Guinevere/Leon]
Usually on a Tuesday morning, Guinevere would be fast asleep until midday or watching a bit of TV with Floree next door, whilst they drank Tea or Coffee and discuss books. Instead, Guinevere had to attend a lecture, which was assigned for the Arts students. Evidently, she sighed, hardly up to the par that morning.
As she made her way to the lecture hall, she noticed a student who Guinevere hardly saw around the campus. After a few months in Camelot, faces started to become extremely familiar. The student had a Camera round his neck, that had a vintage-designed strap, perhaps he was a Photography student, so he must’ve been making his way to the lecture too. He had blonde curls (that looked quite soft) and a bit of rough facial hair, he was also likely to be almost 6ft tall (well, he probably was) and, a little bit attractive. Guinevere found an empty row amongst the lecture, and sat there waiting for it to begin. This lecture hall was probably the biggest one she set foot on since the beginning of her first year, and the interior design was also quite… elegant, but seemed strictly serious. Though, there wasn’t much to examine, and the lecturer was still waiting for the other art major students to arrive. “Is this one taken?” Guinevere turned over, noticed the photography student who she sighted on the way here, to ask for the seat next to her. “Please,” she offered, as she smiled reassuringly. She sat up mildly straight, and tried to seem… entertained. Though, that was almost impossible. “Usually these art lectures are so boring.” Guinevere stated. “I’m Gwen, by the way.”
"And I'm sleepy as hell." He was rubbing his face, trying to force some life into it. "Sorry, bad joke." Leon blinked repeatedly, palming his forehead for half a second."My name is Leon." He tried to smile a bit, but it probably looked quite odd when his eyes didn't smile, though. "I'm doomed if this lecture is boring." It was a mixture of whining and worry. "Could you wake me if dooze off?" He'd look at her hopefully, but obviously his face was too tired for that as well."Pinch my arm or something." He explained while pinching himself to demonstrate.
(I won't write any more on this since Gwen left us, I might update later if we get a new one or she comes back)
Happy Easter from me and my chick x (x)
Crushing Defeat ~ Leon/Mithian
Mithian heard noise nearby and quickly wiped the tears away raising her head up facing ahead. She focused her stare behind the shooting range and noticed there was someone walking close to the training field. It was a tall curly haired guy. He looked older than her and didn’t seem to be from around here, he had a foreign air to him and she had certainly never seen him in campus before. She furrowed her brows in confusion. Everybody else, including the rival teams, had left a couple of hours ago, so she had no idea what could he be doing here… although she remembered team mate Illya had told them her step-brother was coming to visit her after the tournament. Maybe this was him and he was looking for her.
She decided to approach him and offer some help.
“Hi! Are you looking for someone? Everybody just left…”
Gazing over the field with curiosity and amazement, someone suddenly met the gaze. A girl was approaching him. Was he not supposed to be here, maybe? She looked upset, and it made Leon slightly nervous. Was this a bad time to approach this place on? Oh well, the damage had been done already. He'd just make the best out of it.
Even with her hair tied up in a practical hairdo, the waves in it was still defining the shape of it. She looked focused and professional with it put up like that, really.
"Are you looking for someone?" she asked him. He quickly replied "Oh! No! Just out for a walk, and curious what kind of place this was." "Am I interrupting anything?" He asked politely, in case he actually had done so. The field really was quite empty now, not taking the equipment and that one girl into calculation.
passed around like a parcel: Practicing portraits [Leon & Floree]
Floree happily grabbed some posters and pins. She looked to where he was pointing and nodded. "Yeah, I do believe the do say that." She smiled and chuckled.
She was about to walk over to the place where she was supposed to put the posters. She was mentally kicking herself for not mentioning about the modelling. Though she stopped in her tracks and looked at him when he brought it up first. "Oh, erm..." She looked at her feet shyly. "Well...I don't think I'd be of much use to you. I mean, I'm not the most photogenic person around." Again she practically kicked herself for real. She had just through away the chance. "I could always ask people I know. Some people around here are sure to get modelling careers if they fail at university." She smiled slightly, thinking to herself as she started to walk to put up the posters for the second time. But she suddenly turned around, surprising even herself. "Y'know what? I'll do it. You seemed to be really into photography and if I say no I would be holding you back. And I really don't want to be the reason that you fall behind -" She glanced quickly at the poster seeing his name in the corner of who to contact. "That would be unfair wouldn't it, Leon." She smiled.
She took a breathe when she finished her little 'speech' as it seemed to come out all in one go. She realised what she had agreed to and turned quickly blushing and headed off to put the posters up, hoping she would get there this time. Hopefully no-one would be around to see her red, flustered face.
Leon was noticing she felt a bit conflicted about the situation, so he tried to calm her down a bit. He didn't really want to break the debate she was having with herself, but he did think she would make a nice model. "I'm not going to force you if you feel awkward about it, I totally get that, I would too. But I wouldn't be asking you if I didn't think you'd be of help, right?"
He tried coming up with something encouraging too, she didn't seem to be that confident. "People tend to be a lot more photogenic than they like to admit, anyway." And though it was aimed at her as encouragement, he sincerely meant it too. People kept mistaking perfectionism with beauty, and Leon didn't really agree with that kind of view. "It's actually because it's the opposite way of how you see yourself in the mirror, that's why it always look weird to you, seeing your own photos." Leon usually didn't flaunt theoretical knowledge, but when it was beneficial to the conversation, he didn't mind that much. As long as he didn't come off as know it all, he didn't mind coming off as nerdy.
"And if you hate the photos in the end, at least I got some practice, even if I didn't get anything for my portfolio." He assured her, still keeping a polite smile on. It felt slightly cheesy, but he did need practice on acting professional. "Helping me with the posters is more than enough though, so don't feel any guilt or anything." He added thankfully, putting up another one of the posters he had left.
The limelight // Arthur & Leon
Whilst Arthur already found the two of them slipping easily back into their old friendship, he couldn’t pretend things weren’t a little bit odd. For the past four or five years they’d heard whispers about each other’s lives from nothing more than social media. Arthur had scarcely talked to Leon since he was 16 when Leon moved away to start travelling. And now here he was, the same old Leon but so different as well. He didn’t know what to think.
“Oh, I heard. Although it’s a wonder how, you practically vanished off the face of the earth.” Arthur smiled again, feeling himself relax more. He took Leon in properly for the first time. He looked older, of course that was to be expected but older in a different way too, like he’d experienced a lot. His hair was longer, his cheeks covered with more unshaved scruff than Arthur remembered. Although it was a little hard to believe how unchanged he did look, given the time they’d spent apart.
“So did you achieve enlightenment or something? Discover your inner being? The meaning of life?” Arthur joked, elbowing Leon gently and peering over the other man’s shoulder to look at his camera screen. He had to squint to see the little image of the rose. He frowned and nodded, turning back.
“Who knew Leon Evaine would turn out as an Artist.” And this is what Arthur had missed. The easiness between them. The joking, the banter. In his younger years Arthur had almost idolized Leon. He was the older, cooler brother that Arthur had never had. And now it was almost as if the tables had turned, or at least changed. They’d grown up, both of them so much.
“Shall we walk?” Arthur said after a moment, his laughter and grin fading out. “I have classes this afternoon but I’m free for now. That is unless I’d be tearing away from your work.”
It was quite nice really, talking to Arthur again. And without worries, too. Of course, it was a bit weird talking after such a long silence between them, but that weirdness was only natural and would probably pass soon. Hopefully, anyway. But it made Leon feel a nostalgia he had kind of ignored the last few years. He had been too busy focusing on the future and present to wallow in the past really. And most people would say that was a good thing, but Leon sort of got the feeling he should've appreciated it a bit more.
"Haha, I sort of did, really." Yeah, other friends had told him how he'd just disappeared too, so he wasn't going to argue. It had been quite sudden, and without a proper goodbye for anyone. It hadn't been a final goodbye anyway, so maybe it didn't matter. But he didn't really regret it. He wouldn't have gotten where he was today without going everywhere else first
"The meaning of life? Really?" Leon laughed warmly. Maybe Arthur had a point though, maybe he was becoming a bit too different from his old self with all this photographystudies. Not that Leon was thinking of dropping it or calming it down, but maybe hanging out with Arthur a bit more would help him not losing his old self to it completely. Besides, if it didn't; getting to know Arthur again was just as important. "Oh no, no. It's nothing serious, just practice. So I could go for a walk, yeah." Leon started packing the camera into the camerabag resting on his hip. He wasn't gonna follow Arthur around with a camera ready, that would just be too weird.
