Hello!

I'm making a transgender name book, "GIVEN/CHOSEN/DEAD". It will be a 2nd volume. The first one can be found here.

I was inspired by the baby names books that expecting couples used to get (maybe they still do?) For me, it's very interesting how different the naming process is for every trans person, and how a name can be a symbol of identity, change, and growth.

If you are trans and would like to share a story of your name, please do! - here's a LINK to my form.

It would be very nice to get some reposts, since last time they helped me so much to get 100 responses!

Hi! I’m Leroy, and I’m studying graphic design in a European university.

I’m making a publication for school but it’s more of a passion project for me, since I’m doing it for a class where students make up their own assignments.

I’m planning to make a book (more like a zine) with stories of how different transgender people picked their names! I came up with this topic while thinking about my own name - I just used the name my parents gave me (it’s unisex) and then modified it after moving to another country.

Here’s a form, if you want to share your story! If you want to be completely anonymous, that’s fine but if you would like me to contact you in the future (maybe to show how a book turned out?) please leave some contact info!

Thank you so much for participating! I have 101 responses, which is huge for me and definitely not what I was expecting!

A first couple of days I got only 3 responses, so I actually lost hope in this google form and didn’t login on Tumblr for a while, so yesterday, when I saw how many people replied, I was shocked.

I only have a month to figure this project out so I don’t know if I will be able to do that but I’ll keep you updated for sure!
