Long time no see homos! In the two years that this blog has been up we we've been proud to feature the photos and facts of many different Portland lesbians. Though we now primarily serve as an archive, we did recently collaborate with Susan Martin on a video series showcasing interviews with various Portland ladies and are excited to finally show what we've been working on.  For our first video we caught up with printmaker and Portland transplant, Ashley.

While we're finishing up editing our first LIPDX video shoot, we thought we'd give you all a sneak peak by introducing our first LIPDX interviewee, Shannon. 

Shannon

1. At age 12, I went to Space Camp in Huntsville, AL through a program via the Minnesota Science Museum. I really wanted to be an astronaut until my dreams were dashed when someone told me a I was too tall to meet the physical requirements. I quickly moved on to other artistic endeavors.

2. My greatest fantasy in life is to be able to tap dance like Gene Kelly, or better yet, the Nicholas Brothers.

3. The above two facts along with most of what comes out of my mouth and the fact that I own over 50 ascots in every color under the rainbow, is solid evidence of the fact that I am easily one of the biggest lesbo nerds you're ever gonna find in this town.

                                     LIPDX IS FINALLY BACK IN ACTION

Hey awesome followers! We're finally back. Sorry to go M.I.A so long, but we promise we've been working hard to show off more rad queer Portland ladies. 

We've also have some exciting new stuff coming to LIPDX. We'll continue doing are same Photo and 3 facts format, but we will now be collaborating with amazing film maker Susan Martin to bring a more in depth look at Portland's queer ladies.

AWOL no more!

Hi y'all!

Sorry about the hiatus we've been having. Being grown ups with jobs is hard! After Halloween we'll be up and going again featuring all you lovely ladies of Portland :) Stay tuned, we still love you and we hope you still love us!

Alley.

1. She can name all the pharoahs of the 18th dynasty in order, including her favorite the only female, Hatshepsut (#5).

2. She is not and never has been a DJ but she did have 2 bands in high school. The first was called Bonanza Jellybean and they played at the SPRGRL Conspiracy Festival in 1996. The second was called Dot and the Art School Adventure and played the final show at the Maul with the Third Sex, where they covered one of their songs. Unfortunately, this was not one of our 2 recorded tracks they released on a compilation.

3. She can quote almost every line of the Goonies and even used a quote on the Editor's page of her high school literary journal Division is a Block Away.

Lesbians in PDX played in the 4th annual HRC women's basketball tournament in Portland today! With the help of lovely LIPDX vet, Jill.

Three Fun Facts.

1. She's never broken a bone [which is actually really surprising.] Except for kind of that one time she fractured her ribs when she was hit by a car. But by "hit by a car" she really means the car was coming at her and there was no time to get out of the way so she jumped onto the car instead [like a stunt] however her metal water bottle got between her and the hood of the car, which is how she fractured her ribs and why she no longer uses metal water bottles.

2. After moving into her apartment she was robbed. Assuming the police didn't have time to help her, she tracked down the burglar herself. She informed the police that she had found the guy and after he was arrested she learned that he was wanted by the police for several other robberies but no one had been able to find him. After passing her findings to the Portland police she was offered a job in the detective department. She declined because she doesn't want to loose her faith in humanity, just yet.

3. Sharks frighten her but she loves to watch shark week every year. She says it's because "I like to study my enemy."

Three Fun Facts.

1. The most accurate imitation of her that she has heard was, “I’m Carrie Z, and I have an opinion”.

2. She is terrified of horses, and most horse-related things (unicorns, Pegasus, ponies).

3. She will add eggs to any dish.

Carrie would like to take the opportunity to say that if you are at the beach, you have a beach body! Love your bodies!
