Sweet bubba is sick 😭 He's had a cold for about 2.5 weeks now; just the usual stuffy, runny nose, sneeze, and dry cough. Then, Thursday, he woke up with a more junky cough. Then Friday it sounded worse. Saturday he had a high temperature (101.4) and the cough had a bit of a wheeze. We went out to dinner with my parents on Saturday for Laura's birthday, and on the car ride home Zac proceeded to throw up about a gallon of fluids (with some green and yellow gunk). It was really traumatic for Laura and me sitting in the back seat with him watching it all unfold! Of course, my dad pulled over ASAP so we could take care of him, but I can still picture it in my head! I think it was worse because he was buckled in and I couldn't pick him right up to comfort him (or at least keep him from vomiting all over himself), so I just cupped my hand under his chin as if catching whatever else came out would make a difference. We text Zac's pediatrician's nurse, because she is a friend of ours, and she basically said that as long as he was having wet diapers and nursing that he was ok and if we wanted to come in on Monday she would squeeze us in. Saturday night his oxygen alarm went off signaling his O2 saturation was below 80% 😮 so Sunday we brought him to quick care. Sunday he was more wheezy and his junky cough was extra junky. The physicians assistant we saw said he had an upper respiratory viral infection. Monday his wheeze was worse. I stayed home from work and we took a 4 hour nap together- it was marvelous, but the only nap he took all day, so from 5am to 11am was a bit rough. This morning his wheeze was constant with every breath and he had diarrhea! This baby can NOT catch a break with this cold! I text our nurse again and she said to bring him in. I was able to get out of work a bit early (it's good to be the boss) so I could be there with him. They tried a breathing treatment of albuterol, which he totally hated even though he looks like he is relaxed and enjoying it in this picture! The albuterol didn't help, so his pediatrician landed on the diagnosis of bronchiolitis AND a stomach bug 😫😭 Both are viral, and both can't be treated with anything other than what we've been doing. Tylenol, steamy bathroom, humidifier, saline, and lots of nursing. It sucks so bad to see our baby feeling bad. We feel so helpless. In other news, Zac cut a top tooth over the weekend! You still can't see it, but you can feel the top lefty. Apparently top and bottom teeth means it's time to bite mama, I even let him a few times when he was so sick. Also, he turns 36 weeks old tomorrow!
