The bracket has been seeded based on a combo of a preliminary poll, fandom prominence, and amount of time spent together in lore. This means that some of the matchups will be unfair. I’m sorry. 

This is a character-focused poll. Keep your focus to character actions that took place on DSMP and during DSMP lore, not origins, smpearth, or real life. MCC is dubiously canonical so I’ll allow it, but I’ve got my eye on you.

Welcome to the United SMP, where 60 people- most of whom haven’t been invited yet- speaking six different language- the majority of which originate from Europe, but, hey, we’ve got South America in there somewhere, and we even have one Asian language!- play minecraft using live translation technology- which is being developed by a company known for pretty bad inventions in the translation field. It’s not like other Minecraft servers. It’s the first server with members that speak different languages.

People interested in joining should click on this English tweet that they probably haven’t seen because they aren’t on English twitter. Only ten people per language are invited, and there will be a leaderboard! Who’s the best German speaker? The best Korean speaker? We all know the best English speaker is Dream. He’s so good at talking that underage girls flock to him to hear his voice!

Definitely don’t watch the qsmp. Though Dream may have announced the new smp idea on the same day as the qsmp announcement and though he may have launched this preview on the same day as the first major qsmp event, that doesn’t mean anything! The qsmp event was moved, anyway! He couldn’t have gotten the idea without Quackity’s help, anyway.

From the man who refused to learn any Spanish when joining a Spanish minecraft tournament and who said that he doesn’t need to learn a foreign language because he only speaks winning, the United SMP will rank languages and break barriers just as easily as Dream breaks speedrunning records without cheating.

The United SMP is here to transcend language barriers between six very different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Korean.

Ignore how five of these languages are among the most commonly spoken in the world and how a majority of Europeans in the SMP (who have definitely joined btw and who aren’t all British and Dream’s friends) will be able to speak more than one of these languages already. These are Western-European languages, underrepresented in popular media. There are other languages in Europe? No there aren’t! It’s just coincidence that these five are the easiest for translation software to pick up. Let’s just hope there aren’t any accents!

But, see, the United SMP isn’t just here for the white people. We have Koreans, too! They are here to represent the entire Asian continent. The United SMP was torn between Korean and Japanese, and not because these are the two most palatable cultures to the West. The SMP values all cultures and languages equally, and that’s why it isn’t including any languages or creators from Africa or the Middle East or Southeast Asia. Those languages are all so unique that it would be impossible to choose just one! So there are none.
