Manifesting more glimpses of Happy Carmy in Season 4 plz & thank youuu ✨️
i really love how the bear isn't afraid to do huge character shifts based on single moments of time. like tina coming to respect syd over the course of essentially one day & that sparking a belief in what she herself could be and what the beef could be. and most notably richie during forks (and specifically after one convo: "it's about respect"). i've really noticed anecdotally that people often change in sudden moments like that, eureka points that allow them to let go of old narratives they hold about themselves. and i think it's the same shift that happens for both tina & richie ("oh shit. i am good. i can be good. i do not have to cling for dear life to a version of myself in which i am 'bad' and do everything to justify that self's existence because of fear).
g-d and it makes carmy's stuckness and lack of growth all the more painful. trauma forreal does that. he wants so badly to change but can't. we know he's trying. like the effort is notable. but he really can't let go of a traumatically held belief that perfection/goodness = pain & abuse (even if intellectually he understands that's not the case. that shit is too in his body and he can't let go!).
the (pookie) bear
"i can fix him" ok well i will try to make him realize how loved and cherished he is outside of the narrative he created for himself
HE DIDN'T START TRYING TO HURT RICHIE UNTIL RICHIE CALLED HIM DONNA. HE WAS FREAKING OUT AND SCREAMING AT PEOPLE AND YELLING SHIT BUT HE DIDN'T GET PERSONAL UNTIL RICHIE CALLED HIM DONNA. HE CAN TAKE THE INSULTS HE CAN TAKE THE ANGER HE CANNOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF BECOMING HIS MOTHER. HE WOULD RATHER BE SEEN AS CRUEL THAN AS CRAZY BECAUSE ONE OF THEM IS A PERFORMANCE AND ONE OF THEM IS SOMETHING VERY VERY BROKEN INSIDE OF HIM AND HE KNOWS IT CANNOT BE FIXED. HE CAN MAKE HIMSELF MEANER ON PURPOSE BUT HE CANNOT KEEP HIMSELF FROM "GOING CRAZY" AND THAT SCARES HIM MORE THAN ANYTHING.
carmy gets an “it’s okay! you just need a little more practice!” on cooking mama and starts banging his head into the wall saying STUPID IM STUPID IM STUPID
if The Bear was an animated series
Still have The Bear brainrot I fear,,,
chopped judge: as delicious as this prawn reduction is I can’t help but feel that your soul is absent from your movements, and that your entire life is but a performance for my entertainment
chopped chef: thank you chef

And he left me his restaurant. And over the last couple months I-I've been trying to fix it 'cause it was in rough shape, and I think it's very clear that me trying to fix the restaurant... was me trying to fix whatever was happening with my brother. And I don't know, maybe fix the whole family because... that restaurant, it has and it, it does mean a lot to people. It means a lot to me. I just don't know if it ever meant anything to him.
