Hi! To the anon who was asking how to post a gif on iPhone, just save the gif you want from the Internet. Then, go on the tumblr pen icon. From there click on the red button with a camera on it. From there choose your selected gif( it will be frozen.) it should start moving when you selected then clicked next. Another way is to message your own/someone's number after saving, then click on share options and share to tumblr. The first option if great for gif sets tho. :)

How do you change your cover photo an the mobile app??

Hey! So I've been getting this question a lot and was extremely confused cause I have the android app and it works perfectly well. I borrowed my friend's iPhone app and have found that there is an issue with the app. Hopefully tumblr will resolve it soon, but for now you'll have to switch it on desktop. You should be able to just tap the header to change it once in edit mode, but it's not working. @staff fix yourself!

How do you bold and italicize text on mobile?

Hey, you have to do that by using HTML. If you go to your post settings, you can set it to show in HTML. To bold, put text and change the text in the middle. text is for Italics!

How do you change your username when you ask on mobile?

I don’t think you can do that... You can set yourself as anonymous but you can’t change your username to ask a question :/

Not true! you can put gifs as headers with devices. you just save a gif, edit your tumblr & change the header to that gif like you would w/ a regular photo. At first the gif won't do anything. Just refresh & eventually the gif will start moving.

I guess I wasn't patient enough when I tested it, or I tested it before you were able to. Thanks for the update!

How do you make a link to your selfies on the iPhone? Someone told me to use safari but I still can't figure it out.

Well, you have to be able to edit your blog if you want to do this, and you’re not able to do that on mobile. So from a desktop you can just set it up and do it from mobile afterward.

On Desktop:Go on your blog and create a new link. This should be able to be done easily through the customize tab. Make the title of the page whatever you like, but make sure the url is entered as follows:

/tagged/selfie

Feel free to change “selfie” to whatever you want to tag your selfies with. If you want it to be more than one word, ex, “my face”, you’d type it as follows, with a - where spaces are:

/tagged/my-face

On Mobile (or Desktop):Set up to upload your post as usual, just be sure to tag it with “selfie”! (Or whatever tag you specified in the link.

are you able to add url links and stuff with your phone? for example when someone does (x) and you click on it it takes you some place, do you know how to do it? i have no access to a computer.

Yes! What you have to do is put your post into html (you can do this after you’re done typing it to make it easier) and locate the word or letter you want to turn into a link in the code. Then, before the text, type url”> , where you change url to the link, and then after the text, type . That should work! Be sure to do it last so it works when you post it. Let me know if it doesn’t work for some reason, but I’m 99% sure it should!

hey im new to tumblr and i was wondering how i upload a gif from the iphone app??

As far as I know, you can’t. I’ve suggested to people to try uploading it by converting their post to HTML and using URL” width=“100px”/> (pasting the link to the image where URL is) but I haven’t heard back if it works. Sorry!

hi!so I'm on tumblr mobile(but i also have the google and safari app)because I'm on holiday without access to a laptop for a month.on laptop i can see things like the ask box,submit and archive at the top of someone's blog(and I've also made other pages with my art and writing and stuff).I was wondering if there is any way to edit these pages,put links and edit text on the pages(and even see the pages cause I can't on my phone)as I can't wait for a whole month?sorry if that made no sense,thanks!

I think you’re asking if you can edit your blog from mobile? If that’s it, then I’m sorry but no, you can’t! You can always ask a friend to do the edits for you? Best of luck, sorry! :(

Hey! So I saw that you had said that gifs as cover photos aren't possible because phones don't support them, but you can save gifs onto iPhones and I see people with gif cover photos so I was wondering if you actually con do it?

Hiya! So, I see what you mean about saving the gifs onto phones. It saves (and animates) on my Android too, however, if you try to upload it as your cover on mobile, it doesn’t animate. Sorry!! :(

I actually didn’t know you could add pictures/gifs to text posts via mobile! But if you want to try something else, try the same code but take out the “alt=“image”” part. That’s usually the code to insert an image. x

Yes! When you’ve chosen the photo and it has an area for you to add text or post it, go to the little gear (settings) button at the bottom. Tap that, and click “Source URL” under the “Customize” section! Then go back and post :)

Hi! I answer this question at least once a week: You cannot make your header a gif on mobile because most phones do not support saving animated gifs.
