Elevating Pasta to an Art with @lucacappuccinodonofrio
To see more of Luca’s pasta and life at Eataly, follow @lucacappuccinodonofrio on Instagram.
Luca Donofrio’s (@lucacappuccinodonofrio) mouthwatering photos elevate pasta to art. “There are hundreds and hundreds of different kinds of shapes and options — you can do anything with it,” the New York native says. “I love pushing the boundaries.” Luca graduated with a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts, intending to be an oil painter. Despite soaking in the city’s galleries and museums for inspiration, he found he couldn’t make a living after graduation; that’s when he ended up as a sales associate at Mario Batali’s gourmet food emporium, Eataly. Within a few years, he was manager of pasta production, overseeing the manufacture of 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms) a week. “It’s become my number one passion in life. To me it’s a just a different form of artistic expression.”
