Do you identify as asexual? Would you like to share your story and experiences in an interview? If so, get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.
I love my family so very much.
Today feels like a dream.
Letters to Frederick
Dear reader,
Today it is a balmy and quiet June day, and I'm writing a lengthy post from my little bedroom-nook for the first time in what feels like forever. So much has changed since my last long internet journal entry, and you'll also notice that over the past week-or-so, this little space has undergone some changes of its own.
My new blog name "Letters to Frederick" honours the memory of both my best bunny friend forever, Fred, and also my grandfather, whose middle name was Frederick. Whilst I've mostly been posting little Instagram snapshots with tiny tales here and there, I feel as though journaling more from this point forward might help me find an avenue of expression.
I'm not certain on where to start in terms of changes, but I'll begin by telling you that my third year of university was certainly a difficult one, and between grieving for my great-grandmother, thoughts of setting my sights on other things than just further study had me feeling every kind of emotion imaginable. Part of me worries that I've spent so long reaching for what should feel like a 'dream job', yet, by only focussing on university, I feel as though I might have missed out on a job that I could have loved, and one that might have given me more time to draw and write. One thing that keeps me motivated is realising that it doesn't matter how long it takes you to get where you need to be, so long as you get there.
Other than that, I’ve been spending time with my dear folks, and I’ve started work on my asexuality dissertation, which I’ll tell you more about very soon. I’m also in a long-distance relationship with a boy called Austin that you will have likely heard me mention in my (much shorter) earlier posts. Austin lives in America and he'll be visiting for the very first time soon, so I'll be sure to blog about some of our adventures next month.
I have some new poems to show you, my cactus family and some artwork too, and I'll be posting more often within the next few weeks.
Until then, I’m wishing you all beautiful adventures of your own.
Love always, RJ xoxo
P.S. Oh, the above little photograph is of a bumblebee I painted in watercolours and acrylics, inspired by a recent trip to a garden centre with my lovely parents where I saw the sweet bees collecting pollen. 🐝🌻
Today it is my folks' 26th wedding anniversary, I love them both with my whole heart. 💕

Today, I underwent a little sea change and now I feel as free as the ocean waves in the photographs pinned to my wall.

A little Fred memory, I miss him so very much.
I think it would be just the grandest thing if everyone had a colourful gem set in their palm, and when you met your soulmate, the gem would start to glow and then you'd press your palms together, fall in love and combine both gemstone colours in the process.

This is Esther, she is the newest member of the cactus family. Esther has spines like constellations and so her name means 'star.'
Write more letters — something I definitely need to do more of after some dissertation planning.
there's something quite timeless about your photos, you, how you are, how you write. graceful, kind, thoughtful, unique, pretty... it's almost always a little treat when you appear on here. x
Thank you so very much for such sweet words, reading this truly made my day a lovely one, and I hope yours was equally lovely.

In the end, the only steps that matter are the ones you take all by yourself. ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
Hello RJ, I don't know when you'll see this, but I just wanted to say that you seem like an otherworldly angel of a human being. Seriously, you seem lovely beyond this world, and I'm half convinced you're a fictional Internet being. Anyway, good luck on exams and such!
Hello there dear Anonymous,
Sorry for my late reply, I’ve been using the Tumblr app these past few months and so I’ve only just seen this now!
Thank you so very much for your kind message —I don’t think I’ll ever live up to such a dreamy turn of phrase, but you are truly lovely for sending such sweet words and luck my way and I’m wishing you a beautiful end of the weekend and a wonderful next week too.
RJ xoxo
