"โฆ"
exactly ten years ago at this moment, at 11 am in beijing on 6-15-2015, priest posted the first chapter of mo du to jjwxc and, by thereby doing, rewired many of our brains permanently. to help commemorate this momentous occasion, i humbly submit my own small contribution to the literature: a comparison of the number of times zhoudu made each other bluescreen. behold my extremely scientific handiwork:
as you can clearly see here, president fei is capably in the lead, by over 65%. realistically, however, i think we should congratulate luo-dui for staying on the board at all, especially given the kind of stuff that routinely comes out of feishir's mouth.
to be completely transparent i did not check to see when it's other characters making them dialtone, since lwz also goes speechless more than once at various team members, and i think luo yiguo? but i am also deeply lazy and tbqh i think lwz and pๅคง would respect that.
ON THIS DAY ZHOUDU INVENTED LOVE, HAPPY MODUIVERSARY
those bowls barely had a mol of grease on them and yet they're standing there hand to hand washing for a good 3 min 45 seconds
Luo Wenzhou's 30th birthday (Quick sketch for my fic)
happy 10th anniversary!
This one is for me and all the JITD lovers out there...๐
"Mo Du" CHAPTER 79โMacbeth XX (confession)
โOh, my phoneโs lockscreen code isโฆโ
โI know,โ Luo Wenzhou said absently. โThat dateโฆ The day you discovered your momโs suicide.โ
Fei Duโs footsteps paused a few steps away from him. โNo.โ
Luo Wenzhou looked up in surprise. Fei Du was watching him. Suddenly, he displayed a somewhat indistinct smile. Because he had his back to the light, it wasnโt clearly visible.
โItโs the day I met you,โ he said.
may 12th; the day that started it all

The smileeeeee ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Iโll forgive the first half of this episode, this is so adorable help Aksgsjsk
Yeaaaaaaah ainoway the show once again put 2 hetero couples in obvious framing and then cut to these two. With heart lights.
HAH
But okay yay! Happy ending! I love happy endings ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ life is sad enough, we need more happy endings
I canโt believe the show is over ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญguys what do I do now??? I mean Iโm gonna go read the novel but Aksgsjsk ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ I love this show so much
(Now that Iโve finished the show wooooo itโs time for fic ideas ๐๐ป๐๐ป)
Thanks for reading my nonsensical posts guys, I hope yall enjoyed my screeching over the past few weeks ๐ญ
Pei Su's first night at Lwz's. He's firmly in the center of the bed.
In the next shot he's slightly closer to the edge (which looks like a continuity error) but still is nearly in the center.
In the next episode (when he wakes up to Lwz hiding in the study with the newly discovered materials) he's firmly on one side. While the other side is all messed up.
Later when he returns to the bedroom all subdued.
A continuity error again, but kinda funny this time. Did he just spread the cover over Lwz's empty side to seal him from getting back there or what? ๐
Headcanon/continuity guy defence squad here
Photo one : Luo Weizhao makes the bed - 'Pei Su is sleeping here on his own, I'm sleeping in the study of course of course. I had no ulterior motives for moving him into my home, I just like to be able to keep an eye on him.' ye sure
Photo two: Pei Su starts to scoot to the side of the bed - 'It's weird to be in Shixiong's bed.' squirm squirm. 'Maybe he'd want to come sleep here if I gave him a bit of space. Not that I particularly want that, of course.'
Photo three: Pei Su has fully moved to the side of the bed, he, against his own will, have started to wonder what it would be like to sleep next to Luo Weizhao, it's hard not to, surrounded by his scent, in his home, in his BED. He clutches onto the sheets sometimes when he's asleep and having nightmares, as if he were there, and the idea of him being close gives him comfort.
Photo four: Pei Su firmly making the other side of the bed, 'I can't believe he doesn't trust me. He sucks. Maybe I shouldn't have said that. Maybe I wouldn't trust me either. He doesn't want me maybe - insert additional sad Pei Su thoughts. He still can't bring himself to move back to the middle, he likes this side of the bed now. (Thank goodness Luo Weizhao comes to explain so Pei Su has a pleasant night of sleep.)
And then in episode 21 Luo Weizhao finally moves back to his bedroom! Pei Su sits up waiting for his Shixiong to finish his work and come to bed ๐
A Silent Reading new commemorative version is being released in China! To celebrate, priest, the Creator, the Head Priestess and Leader of our Order, has done an interview, answering questions about our favourite couple, Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du.
I did a quick translation as her words must be heard.
The publishers were kind enough to put the questions in English!
I translated the answers from Priest:
1. Eat well, drink well, grow old together
2. Fei Du: Leader
Luo Wenzhou: Ancestor
3. A rose
4. Feishir!
5. Little kitty! Providing members of the family with profile pictures is every cat's duty. (But Luo Wenzhou would use an ugly photo)
6. Noodle (TN: ๆ้ข (guamian) is the kind of noodle they eat in episode 14 if you watched the show, or if not it's a flat dry noodle considered v easy and homey)
7. He would write something in a traditional cultural style. 'Elders' not having smart phones in their use universally possess the ability to put together a handwritten love letter or a depressing note.
8. No cooperation. A 7.5kg cat = 7kg of rebellion and a tail*
9. (The question is slightly hidden - the name Fei Du sounds like Freedom, is this intentional or a beautiful coincidence) Coincidence....
10. Follow secretly, taking a photo collection of a naughty child's embarrassing moments, taken back for blackmail purposes
11. Love, freedom, life, ideals, money
12. Respect and truth/authenticity/realness (็ๅฎ (zhenshi) is a combination of these concepts)
13. When I was younger I'd used this quote in one of my other works 'You can have nothing, as long as you still have your spirit'. After having met a lot of people, I know that sometimes 'still [having] spirit' can also be a hurdle, not everyone can meet it.
But despite the spirit being destroyed she still has the power to cause a crack in the darkest places, to leave an impression on fate, even if it takes a thousand years for it to have resonance, telling everyone that defeat was not her end, nor was death.
14. Ah? It isn't very out of the ordinary? Luo Wenzhou would not have been beaten less than Ah-Fei, but at the point in the book he's already older, thinking back on his childhood there's only the contentment and happiness left. If we write from when he was 15 it wouldn't seem like that.
15. No thoughts, at the time I tried something cheeky but you guys posted about it too much the inspector noticed (sigh).
*(Edit note: Ahhhhh I mathsed wrong and quadrupled the weight of Luo Yiguo ๐ (sorry my chunky bb) thanks to the tags for the reminder!!!!!)
Now up to episode 14 of My Page in the 90s
A momentary rant about wetv. I bought the YouTube membership because I thought it was updating at the same pace as the wetv vip (because it was at the time) but now I'm stuck on 14 and the app is already on 18 ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Give me my money back (so I can pay you via a different platform).
I'm still enjoying it massively (and why I'm so annoyed about no new episodes today).
The main couple are perfect. Lin Huan'er is an incredibly smart protagonist, and very goal orientated. She's funny and outgoing and seemingly has no fears. The moments where she then is really emotionally affected by Gao Haiming, and others, such as the lovely scene with her 'family', hits nicely. Gao Haiming is also extremely capable and confident but there's something very childish about him that is very sweet when it could easily be annoying. Notably any scene he has with his assistant, their relationship is one of my favourites. Justice for Xiao-Luo, hope he's extremely well paid. They have really wonderful chemistry together, you can see why they just get on. I don't think the script really gets you all the way there, but the way the actors vibe off each other is really golden. Notable mention for the jealousy on a sky bridge scene. There's something really balanced and (not sure if this is the right description) not so gendered about their dynamic. Although Gao Haiming is in many respects a classic Domineering CEO character type, they change up when each of them should be the one 'leading' their dynamic from time to time in a way that feels very real. Love the 'there was only one bed' scene, where that shifts between them and is hilarious.
The side characters are also very good. I already mentioned Gao Haiming's assistant Xiao-Luo (my fav), but the rest of the cast - his dad, his mum, Xie Wanjun and her dad are all very good. Xie Wanjun especially, although is extremely spoilt and unreasonable, has a certain naive charm about her I couldn't bring myself to hate her at all. When Huan'er gave her a pep-talk to go after Gao Haiming and be her own main character, I found myself cheering her on, 'Yes, you go get him!!!!' I'm glad she didn't get her way but I hope she gets a happy ending. The whole arc with her boyfriend, love love.
The sanitary pad manufacturing stuff is so random I think it's funny (positive). Weirdly got me thinking of Zhang Xincheng's serious drama last year also about the oncoming boom of Chinese manufacturing in the late 90s early 00s but that was about Engineering and Factories and Men making things. I haven't seen that show so this is not a critique, but it made me chuckle that they are somewhat a mirror of each other. Would be a random double bill.
There is a lot of stuff in the show that is janky. I am really not into the second pairing (Meng Meng and the traffic policeman). She is great in her role as bff, her and Huan'er have good chemistry. Her and this guy are really boring together as a couple. The urge to skip forward is strong. Also the music and some of the editing I can't decide if they're doing it badly on purpose because it's supposed to be a spoof of a bad room come or if it's just bad. I choose to believe the former.
The best metaphor for this show would be that it was like someone decided to serve you a Wagyu Big Mac (or choose your favourite burger from your childhood) in an old McDonald's. The combination of the nostalgia and good food is a completely delightful experience, but occasionally you'll look around and realise that oh I am still in this slightly run down and sticky restaurant. 100% will go back again.
Currently watching My Page in the 90s!!!
(I have not given up Under the Skin!!! This is just the first show I managed to convince an irl friend to watch with me ๐ข)
The long journey I took to come to this show obviously starts with Justice in the Dark, starring Zhang Xincheng. When I watched his interviews and variety show footage Wang Yuwen as his childhood friend came up a lot. And I loved her!!! She takes no shit from him and they have a really fun sibling dynamic. Then I saw some clips of her with Chen Xinxun talking about coffee and I thought he was very sweet and hilarious, putting up with her shitting on his expertly made pourovers. Obviously they went viral for their chatty moments at the award show with Zhou Ye. Adorable. I knew they had a show together coming up and I had to watch it.
This is the first romcom I've watched in a LONG LONG TIME. Also probably the first ever bg centered story for a good while as well ๐ฑ. My experience with idol dramas is from the 90s/00s so the nostalgia vibe is also a draw for me.
First impressions up to episode 5 - so cute. It really relies on the charm, chemistry and the acting abilities of the actors, and luckily they have everything in spades. Definitely not a perfect show, if I wanted to nit pick there's lots to pick but it's so fun and charming I don't particularly want to. It obviously has a low production budget, and has had pretty much zero promotion in China.
Go for a good time, it is there for you, but I'd maybe suggest waiting for a few more episodes to be released. I'm doing one episode a day and it is BRUTAL. I've watched lots of clips of the future episodes released for members so I'm confident it stays good for at least a good number of episodes more...
