Afternoon!

Today I’ll be covering the Igopogo from Lake Simcoe, Ontario! (Also known as Beaverton Bessie and Kempenfelt Kelly).

The first sighting was in 1823 when settler David Soules while tending his sheep. He describes seeing a long creature slide through the water and onto land.

There have been 6 other alleged sightings spanning over groups of people, sonar operators, and a gentleman a part of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club.

Not much is known about this cryptid, But we are lacking in lake monsters!

Alright, I haven’t gotten any message since my last post so I think it’s safe to go back to our regularly scheduled program.

I do want to apologize for everything that’s been happening. This blog was created to be a super silly cryptid page and just a few days in, someone found my address.

But anyway: onto our next friend.

Today we have Mapinguari. It’s found in northern South America, yet it’s tale has found its way through the entire continent.

The creature was described in the earlier days as an ape-like creature. But recently has been deemed sloth-like. “ [The Malinguari] is said to sometimes be a humanoid creature with a mouth in the middle of its stomach. It is sometimes said to have one eye, long claws, caiman skin, backward feet and a second mouth on its belly.” Says the Cryptid Wiki.

There is so much story to check out, I recommend looking deeper into it yourselves!

Todays cryptid is the Ningen from Japan!

It’s beginnings start in the early 2000s (specifically 2002) when an internet user posted claims of a whale researching ship catching sight of this strange creature. They originally thought it was a submarine, but it swiftly disappeared into the abyss of the water.

In 2005, there is a supposed image of this creature captured in Google Earth. Although most believe it is just a conveniently shaped iceberg in the Southern Ocean. Simultaneously, in 2010 multiple YouTube video was published that re-sparked the debate of the Ningen’s existence.

This cryptid is found in Wisconsin!! (Oooh! Home state!) The first sighting dates back all the way to 1936 outside of Elkhorn. Through the 1980-90s it found it’s way traveling through the counties of Racine, Walworth, and Jefferson. To compare, our friend from Bray Road is narratively and comparatively very close to the average werewolf.

Also known as the “Dogman”, “Bear-Wolf”, “Manwolf”, “Bluff Monster” or “Eddy”, this beast has multiple news articles (Walworth County Week circa 1980-90) and even a low budget movie ( The Beast of Bray Road - 2005)! The author of the new articles, Linda Godfrey, was dismissive of this creature. But as she continued to write articles, she soon became convinced it was real. She then wrote a book called “The Beast of Bray Road: Tailing Wisconsin’s Werewolf.”

It is debated that this furry friend is aggressive. Some throw away the idea, and others take claim of it. There are no medical records of any harm, but only claims of the creature hopping on top of cars!

Champy (or Champ) is a sea monster (possible descendent of a plesiosaur) said to be found within Lake Champlain. This fresh water lake passes through New York, Vermont, and even Canada’s Quebec!

There have been a whopping 300 reported sightings following Sandra Mansi’s released 1971 Champy photograph! Champy has a celebrated day in Port Henry, New York; and is the mascot of Vermont’s minor league baseball team! It even has a proposed scientific name called “Champtanystropheus americansus”

Recently, a video published in 2005 by Dick Affolter and Pete Bodette can spot this creature. Professional forensic image specialists reviewed the tape, and said they found no signs of tampering. There was also a recording of unknown creature-based echolocation in 2003 by Fauna Communications Research Institute!

Afternoon! Sorry, I lied about posting again yesterday! Work got ahead of me.

Todays friend is still in Illinois!

The Enfeild Horror is from, you guessed it, Enfeild! It is fabled to have been stalking the town in the 1970s! But on April 25th of 1973, a man named Henry McDaniel was the first to call name of an encounter with the creature!

He said that when he was with his children Lil and Henry (very original), he spotted the creature! The children had expressed their fear of a creature scratching at the door; and when Henry Sr. finally heard it himself, there it was.

“had three legs on it, a short body, two little short arms, and two pink eyes as big as flashlights. It stood four-and-a-half-feet tall and was grayish-colored. It was trying to get into the house!” Henry says, and proceeded to grab his gun and shoot it. He said he fired multiple times, and knew he hit the Enfeild Horror.

Good morning friends! I am on the bus on my way to work but today we are moving down to southern Illinois! From Murphysboro, we have the possible stinky Sasquatch adjacent named the Big Muddy Monster. He is said to resemble The Bigfoot or The Sasquatch, but carrys a skunk like sent with him.

The first written sighting was in October of 2005 by The Southern Illinoisan. There are digital scans of reports from 1973 still in the police department

As of today, there is a musical festival held in Illinois named after our big furry friend!

In 1893, well known prankster Eugene Shephard (from Rhinelander, Wisconsin) got a large group together to find a creature called the Hodag.

"the head of a frog, the grinning face of a giant elephant, thick short legs set off by huge claws, the back of a dinosaur, and a long tail with spears at the end", the newspaper said.

Apparently, they required dynamite to slay the creature. It soon became extinct due to the lack of their food source: white bulldogs!
