Science time!

Let’s say you take a glass in a sink full of water, and fill it sideways. Like a quarter of the way. Then, immediately flip the glass so it’s upside down with the water still in it, and you’ve essentially created an air bubble that’s trapped inside your glass.

A boat is essentially like the glass. Because they have to be able to float on water they’re sealed water and air-tight, because if there were any holes it would sink.

If this was done right, without tipping the boat particularly too much, they should be able to keep a pocket of air trapped in the boat, though how long it’d last them is debatable.

The main problem with this theory is buoyancy, though. Ships are built to float, and with the size of that boat I don’t think the weight of the two men pulling down on it would be enough to keep it sunk.

Then again, it’s a movie about undead fucking pirates and cursed treasure so let’s not split hairs here.
