Based on the Greek myth where Prometheus took fire from the gods, gifted it to people and as a "reward" got chained to a mountain with a friendly eagle visiting him every day...only to recover and repeat the same thing each day. Eternally...in a loop. Like Diavolo who took the stand arrows, gifted people powers and ended up in an endless loop of torture.
