“thankfully, the streak didn’t end. you know what they say about death and hospitals. once there’s already one that happened, more will soon follow,” rhiannon said with a shake of her head. it was hospital superstition about how there can never be just one death in a day and she’s seen it countless of times to believe it as well, but she didn’t want to dwell on death and domino effects since it brought up rather harsh memories of something she didn’t want to think about. putting the smile back on her face, she said, “well, thank you for giving me some of your very precious time. i’ll make sure not to waste a second of it.” rhiannon said it in a teasing manner before gesturing towards the door. “when do you get off work?”

“next you'll be telling me that death roams the halls in a black hood with a scythe in hand,” levi laughed at his own joke. that would be quite the sight, actually. halloween 2017 here he comes. “i'm pretty sure people did die today, just not under my care,” he then added, shrugging a little. not that levi really cared about the work of others. he was in it to be the best surgeon he could be, and in his mind that literally had nothing to do with anyone else. “you're very welcome,” he smirked, offering her his hand. “levi cailian, trauma surgeon extraordinaire,” he winked. “you won't regret it, that's for sure.” glancing between the door and his watch, levi finally settled his gaze on the smaller brunette. “another ten minutes, think you could wait for me? spoiler alert: i'm worth the wait.”

“If your forgetting Dr. Cailian, I am your superior and hospital policy frowns upon such interactions.” She reminded him glancing down at the chart in her hand before passing it off the nurse at the station. “Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely think on it.”

“you know, as much as i love hearing the doctor part in front of my surname, it wouldn't kill you to use my actual name once in a while,” he continued to tease her. “say it with me: levi. l-e-v-i. like the fuckin' jeans,” he smirked. knowing his fathers, that was most likely what he was named after, anyway. “the hospital frowns upon socialising with fellow doctors? what kind of fuckery is this? besides, when those scrubs come off you're not my superior anything. cut loose a little, it might even make you smile.” he reached out and poked her cheek to further his point. “you're welcome. also, less thinking and more doing. aka, buying me those drinks.”

Freddie looked up as she noticed the man that was now facing her. She furrowed her eyebrows as she noticed she probably had missed something he’d said before looking at her. “Six out of six what?” She asked, curious. I mean, she had no problem buying him a celebratory drink for whatever victory he’d just had, just she’d like to know what she was spending her money on. “I think I missed what you first said.”

“--- lives,” levi arched a brow. the look on his face practically screamed offence at being not heard, but he said nothing. he was in too good a mood to let this little slip get him down, so he repeated himself with his trademark smirk etched into his lips, still proud of his achievements of that day; all week, in fact. “i'm a trauma surgeon. one of the best in the city, actually,” he chuckled. was that a stretch? most likely, but he had enough confidence in himself to believe his own words. “no one died on my watch, is what i'm saying.”

“— would a cookie and fancy wine be enough for you to stay quiet for a moment?” Delphine asked, hoping that a hint of playfulness in her voice would be enough for a man to catch that she wasn’t serious. “Some people are trying to write about THAT.”

“i fuckin' love cookies,” levi couldn't stop himself from smiling. god, he was such a child when it came to those delicious baked goods. “not a huge fan of wine, but free wine? shit, i'll drink that,” he then added. who was he to look a gift horse in the mouth, after all? “write about what?”

“congratulations on six out of six. you should definitely be proud of yourself for that,” rhiannon said with a smile. it was always a relief knowing their patients were alive and on the road to recovery because she couldn’t handle another death for today. there had already been one that morning. “i’m not opposed to that at all, but you sure you have the time to spare?” she teasingly asked.

“why thank you,” levi grinned as if the praise had come out of nowhere instead of it having been the result of his coaxing. still, praise was praise. “i definitely am,” he then nodded. “i'm working off a streak, it'd be kind of shitty if it ended today.” or any day, for that matter. despite his confidence, he was not a man that could handle loss. “i think i can spare a minute or two for you, sure.”

“ – i can feel you judging my moves,” the male continued to throw some minor shoulder action into his little jig, “and quite frankly, I don’t care one tiny bit.” he threw them a wink, partnered with a slight smile, before closing his eyes and bobbing his head a little to the beat. “come on, I know you want to come dance with me. don’t be a party pooper!”

levi just shrugged at the person next to him as if he had absolutely no clue who the dancing guy was, but that wasn't the case at all. mouthing 'he's crazy' with a twirl of fingers around his head, he smirked as he watched the person walk away before turning to face maddox again. “who taught you those moves, huh? a t-rex? they're fucking hilarious, man.”

Nora had made her way to a café near the hospital, desperate for some proper coffee between all the cups of the less than enjoyable vending machine stuff she consumed during a normal shift. Glancing up from the newspaper she had been flipping through absentmindedly, she shook her head firmly. “Look, I don’t know a whole lot about the hottest music of today but surely there are more than three popular songs they could play. Or perhaps this place is in one of those time loops.”

after consuming three espressos and half of a plain black coffee, levi still had made no progress on his reports -- which only fuelled his need to drink more coffee; normally he would be able to write these forwards and backwards in his sleep. “and you think i do? i haven't been on the music scene since the fucking spice girls,” he muttered. “if it's a time loop then it explains why i'm going nowhere.”
