Comfort
Levi x Reader One-Shot AU
Genre: Slight angst, mostly fluff
Summary: Levi is your neighbour who suffers from night terrors. Eventually, you get fed up and try to help him.
Bags hung under his eyes every time you saw that undeniably handsome face. He started as your neighbour, but occasionally he would borrow some tea bags which lead you two becoming friends. Thus, you would go over to his apartment a few times and catch a movie with him and he would do the same with your apartment. It was only natural for a hopeless romantic such as you to start falling for the raven headed male.
However, Levi was a very private man who did not share much about his life with you, he left you utterly curious. His stoic appearance always left you wondering more to why he was always so closed off. The conversations you two carried were mostly small talk, or him asking about your life. Every time you tried asking him something he would give you a short answer or change the topic much to your dissatisfaction.
The thing that you were the most curious about was why he would get up at approximately at 3:00 am every morning and walk around his home. The thin walls failed to keep the noises from reaching your ear. You could clearly see how tired he was, but you did not understand how he functioned so well. Truth be told, you were worried about your friend but you also wanted to get some sleep at night.
Currently, you were in Levi’s apartment catching up on a tv show you started together.
“What! I can’t believe he would do that-” You started before turning your head towards the male to see his reaction to the scene. Much to your surprise, Levi had his head slumped on the couch, peacefully asleep. You admired how the chiselled male looked like a baby in his sleep. His lips were softly parted as his chest moved up and down. Before you realized your heart was beating rapidly. ‘Get your shit together Y/n.’ you thought to yourself.
As you were left admiring the man, his head jolted up and he screamed. You jumped in your seat.
“fuck Levi! you scared the shit out of me. Are you okay?!”
The male looked at you phased, his eyes searched the room taking in his surroundings. Once he figured out what was happening he let out a long sigh.
“Yeah, sorry about that it was just a nightmare.”
“look, Levi, I could notice you aren’t getting much sleep lately. I could also hear you in the middle of the night. Mind telling me what’s going on?”
Once again the raven-head sighed.
“ Tch…I get these nightmares every night and then I can’t fall back asleep after I get them.” You looked at him dumbfounded.
“Yeah, no shit I can see that. I mean why do you get them? What are they about?”
Levi looked at you, his eyebrows furrowed. You can tell he was hesitant to tell you. You surely didn’t want him to say it if he wasn’t comfortable.
“Well… if you really wanna hear a sob story then-”
“I’d be happy to.” You replied before he can finish.
“Tch brat, let me finish first.” You smiled at him, muttering a sorry. For some reason, he failed to meet your eyes when he was talking. He was looking at the floor, with his head in his hands. It was evident that whatever it was it had to be serious. You waited for what seemed like an eternity before he started talking again.
“About 2 years ago, I was driving a car with 4 of my friends at the time. Petra, Oluo, Gunter, and Erd…”
You waited for him to recall the event. Somehow you kind of knew where this was heading.
“It was Petra’s birthday and we all were heading out from work to go for some drinks. I was about to take a turn when… A drunk driver came and hit us from the left. They all died in the crash.” He finished.
At this point, you were speechless, unable to process what the man had been going through.
“I-I’m so sorry Levi…”
“I hate that I was the one who suggested we go for drinks, if it weren’t for me they would still be alive right now.”
“Don’t say that! You couldn’t have possibly known that would happen. It’s not your fault at all.”
You placed your hand on his shoulder, gently rubbing it. However, his whole body tensed up.
“The doctors say that I was lucky to have survived, but I’m truly questioning that. Every night I go to sleep I hear their voices, I see there faces from that day. They’re always screaming my name and I… I just can’t bear it so I wake up.”
It hurt so much to see him blaming himself. You had no idea how to comfort him. You gently took his hand in your own and ran circles with your thumb on his palm.
“Levi… Don’t say that, please. I’m so glad you’re alive you don’t understand.” You said. He looked at you with a sad smile tugging at his lips.
That’s when he did something unexpected. He wrapped his arms around your frame, hugging you tightly. When the shock wore off, you returned the embrace. Your hand ran up and down his back, with your best efforts in comforting him.
“Thanks, Brat…” He said as his head nuzzled into your neck, sending shivers down your spine. You smiled onto his shoulder.
“Y/n?… Do you mind staying with me tonight?”
“Sure thing Levi.”
That night the male slumbered with his head on your chest. You ran your fingers through his soft black hair while you waited for him to fall asleep. When he did you let yourself drift to sleep too. You knew Levi was dealing with something that would not just go away, and you would be lying if you said you understood how he was feeling. So you prayed that holding him helped ease him just a bit.
The next morning the bright sun-rays caused you to wake up. Much to your liking, Levi was still asleep with his hand around your waist. You smiled reached ear to ear. His eyes slowly wakened as his hand rid them off tiredness. You could swear you saw a faint smile along with a blush across his face.
“Morning Levi… How’d you sleep?”
“That was the best sleep I had in years and I dreamed about something else too.”
“What did you dream about?” You questioned, possibly searching for the answer in his grey orbs. His hand led to your face, slowly caressing your cheek.
“Tch, you brat.”
