speaking about game design i think i am actually getting a LITTLE annoyed with tunic because the information is SO muddied that i've basically not been using any consumables because I Don't Know What They Do And I Don't Want To Waste Them
i saw a thing about some artist who got completely ejected from the community they'd been a part of because someone came to them and asked them for a nsfw commission and it turned out that person had turned 18 like a week prior
why the fuck does that get you in trouble
they're 18, they're of age, there is nothing illegal or weird about that, the guy was probably specifically waiting to turn 18 before asking for a comm like that because he understood that asking for such a thing sooner could get someone in trouble
and yet apparently now even actually being 18 is still too young to engage with explicit material, the artist was even like "if i'd known they'd turned 18 so recently i'd have never accepted the commission" THEN BITCH WHAT TIME IS IT APPROPRIATE FOR THEM TO ASK??? WHY in the FUCK does it matter WHEN they turned 18 why isn't them being of age enough, why does ANYONE care about this at all
like fucking hell man i've seen so many things like this before where people get in trouble because of the stupidest shit when NOTHING illegal has taken place because some people just cannot fucking help themselves
people shouldn't have to defend themselves over things like this. why is it so wrong for an 18yo to try to commission something nsfw just because they only recently turned 18. does the number actually matter or are we just grandstanding here. if turning 18 isn't enough, then what the fuck is.
maybe this bothers the fuck out of me so much because three years ago i got ejected from a community (my old ff14/vanguard group) because i accidentally slighted someone who pulled this shit on me, framing me as a predator for getting 'too close' to them, trying to say i did it on purpose because they were younger than me (most of what they said was lies, things taken grossly out of context, but because "omg predator" scare no one even bothered doing and investigating and just gave me the boot without a word to me about it)
and in case this needs ANY clarification (i've never thought it had but evidently i was wrong about that with that group) No I Have No Interest In Minors. or anyone significantly younger (or older) than me really i prefer people who are closer to my age. the person who got me kicked out happened to be like 4 years younger than me (i was 22 when we became friends you can do the math) but my fault for not asking their age before we started sharing smut with eachother as some friends do, i guess. not that it should have mattered because THEY WERE 18!!!!
but anyway this smacks of the same type of shit of someone trying to start drama, trying to grandstand about "yeah we don't want the CREEPS here" when the person in question has done absolutely nothing wrong, because people are too fucked out of their minds about this sort of stuff to have any kind of measured response to it. the moment an accusation gets slung it gets met with immediate cries of "we gotta get that person out of here NOW" and if you try to argue against it, try to suggest that that's not what's actually going on here it's "OH ARE YOU DEFENDING P*DOS? YOU SOUND LIKE YOU'RE DEFENDING P*DOS" it's all just knee-jerk outrage.
and like, yeah. predators are real, and we should be wary of people who are doing actual bad stuff, people who are actually targeting minors. yeah, we should do our due diligence and look into things that seem strange or unusual, especially when a minor's wellbeing is on the line. absolutely. no question. but i feel that is very different, and requires some level of proper investigation and confrontation, than what i see most often which is a group just saying "nope this person MUST be bad and we're kicking them out. no room for debate no questions asked get em out of here"
it sucks. it ends up hurting perfectly innocent people for no reason other than some people REALLY want to feel like they're making a difference on an issue they feel VERY strongly about, yet are directing all their ire and motivation in completely the wrong direction. it's stupid.
anyway moral of the story is if you think someone's getting up to some shit why don't you go fucking talk to them, if they're at ALL receptive you'll probably gain some much needed perspective on things and maybe you'll discover that things weren't anywhere near as bad as you thought and maybe it was just a big misunderstanding, or a mistake, or an oversight, whatever.
but don't be like this. it makes me feel like i'm going insane.

But she doesn't stop holding Juno in their hug, nor does she resist Juno's affectionate kisses. "Are you doing well too? I sure hope you are!"
