Imagine King Kendrick walking in and be like :
Super 4 disease AU
So, there is a disease that comes from a flower that spews out a scent that gets into your brain and that flower starts growing. The only way for it to grow is for someone's dead body that was infected to be buried and not burned. The disease starts in Enchanted island and then spreads to Kingsland. The super 4 were able to warn other places like technopolis, gunpowder island, and the lost world to not leave their areas and to stay alert for any of the symptoms, so no other islands were infected. A lot of the fairies ended up getting infected so they were quarantined in their own rooms in the castle. Sir Gareth and Alex also got infected but Alex didn't scratch his skin enough to let the flower sprout. Most of the infected fairies end up dying (so does Sir Gareth) because they couldn't get the cure fast enough but Alex survived.
About the disease
Floral Skin Disease (FLSD)
About
Floral skin disease (FLSD) is a skin condition caused by an espiren (es-pie-ren), a flower with a very sweet scent that tricks a person into picking or getting close to the flower. The disease causes plants to grow out of your skin, mouth, and eyes.
Symptoms
FLSD symptoms consist of different stages or levels of intensity
Stage 1 - The right side of the neck will start feeling itchy for a few minutes about 3-4 times a day. This stage lasts for 2-3 days. It is recommended not to scratch if it happens more than twice in one day.
Stage 2 - The spot on your neck will become red and start forming a rash if the scratching continues. The itching will get increasingly worse and eventually become non-stop. This stage will pass once the skin opens up from the scratching. At this point, they need to be quarantined immediately and all surfaces must be cleaned.
Stage 3 - Once the skin is open, a vine or flower (espiren) will start to sprout from that opening and from areas around that opening. This stage lasts for 1-2 weeks.
Stage 4 - Other areas of the body will start to painfully itch, turn red and sprout the flower or vine. You will notice vine shaped bumps on the skin, which means there are vines under your skin. This stage lasts until the flowers start to bloom.
Stage 5 - When the flowers bloom, the person with the disease will smell like the sweet scent an espiren flower produces. They will become extremely irrational, very emotional and somewhat aggressive. Usually they will be constantly asking for help and try to get others to come closer so they get the disease as well. They will become very self destructive. This stage lasts for exactly 1 week.
Stage 6 - The brain will get weaker and it will be hard for the person to walk or move their limbs. Breathing becomes heavy wheezing and they will drool. This is when the dying process starts. This stage lasts for 1-2 days.
Stage 7 - the person is almost braindead at this point and the skin is starting to rot. The heart, lungs and stomach have vines wrapped around them, squeezing them. They are now unable to move their limbs and mouth. Blinking is very difficult but not impossible. This stage lasts for 2-3 days.
Stage 8 - They are fully brain dead and cannot blink, talk or move at all. The sweet scent of the espiren flower will start to smell like decay. The flowers will rot with the body and the organs will be non-functional due to the vines wrapped around them. They are basically dead and should be burned to prevent more flowers from growing.
Treatment
Treatment consists of a magical, sky blue liquid that comes from a white rose. White roses are more easily found in the enchanted Island but they are very rare. The only way to find a white rose that pours this specific liquid, you need to search long and far in the evil forest. It's very hard to find and obtain. It is protected by an entity that will try to convince you that the cure is not worth getting. It will talking about your incescurities and your trauma to try and drive you out. The best way to obtain the cure is by not listening to this entity, since it cannot physically hurt you.
Here's some doodles for it lalala
Sir Gareth and Alex
The first picture is Alex having to restrain himself from scratching the VERY ITCHY area on his neck so he doesn't worsen his condition (he is in the sealed area Dr. X and Gene made)
Sir Gareth at stage 3 going insane and blaming the king because hd doesn't know what to think
Gene and Dr. X making a sealed area for Sir Gareth and Alex to stay until they find the cure
This is a whole separate room from the main room in Dr. X's lab, it's an area specifically for very dangerous experiments, they changed the sealed area to fit how they need it for Sir Gareth and Alex (putting seats in it, adding more security to it like cameras, locks, and better glass)

Honestly, between a cute, pure and, frankly, mindless Twinkle shown in most S1 episodes and some S2 episodes and the sassy, smart, kinda innocent but not harmless Twinkle shown in specefic episodes, I think I prefer the sassy Twinkle. She's iconic, and she really do feel more like a protagonist, like, she's still naive sometimes, and certainly clumsy, but she's not dumb, or she feels like the classic yet annoying "kwai girl who's only there to be cute and clumsy and submissive". That Twinkle, despite having some female character stereotypes, can still be appreciated as something more, having more personality than her debut.
I'm sorry, but I disagree with you on one point, classic Twinkle from season 1 is nothing like the ultra stupid and brainless Twinkle from some (I said some!) episodes of season 2. She was naive, sure, but the Twinkle from season 1 would never have trusted Sharkbeard so easily, nor would she have thought Ruby was a virus or anything like that .
Let's take an example:
In "the convoy of honor", she quickly trusts the baron because he does his best to present himself as a good man, and since this is an early episode of the first season, we can assume they haven't seen much of him yet. Plus, she's not the only one charmed by his manner: the entire team is, except for Alex, who has known him well for years and knows what he's up to, and even he ends up being fooled.
Want another example? Okay!
In "I Am the King," it takes her so long to understand what happened because it wasn't that simple! Alex understood quickly because it's his father and because he's smart (it's Alex after all). Gene always analyzes everything, and Ruby spent time with the king (who was inside Fourchesac's body) in the dungeon. So it's normal that she gets it quickly too. But Twinkle? I mean, her friends didn't even bother to explain it to her, so it's understandable.
Of course, I could go on and cite all the episodes, but what I'm trying to say is that, sure, she can forget her wand somewhere or be clumsy enough to break it by sitting on it, sure, she takes seriously what her friends say when they try to trick a troll, but what matters is that she took the time to play with a lonely baby monkey in the jungle, she was the one who went into the mouth of a dragon just to retrieve the spellbook, even though it was disgusting and frightening, and that she was the only one who thought about the safety of a troll who was trying to eat them a moment before.
Twinkle has always been smart and thoughtful in season 1, she quickly figured out how to destroy the queen's statue, and she also was the one who solved the riddle of "All that glitters" for example.
It's just that she happens to be with Gene and Alex who are smarter in comparison, and Ruby who is strong and less emotional than her (I say this because people always tend to compare girls on these points which is stupid).
She has weaknesses like everyone else, but she also has strengths that distinguish her from all her friends, and that's what makes them a team: not everyone needs to be the same.
But I completely agree with you about her sassy side; she's seen and experienced a lot (we know our heroes have known each other for years in season 1), so it's perfectly natural that she developed this trait over time. But she kinda already had that side in the first season, it wasn't just as pronounced as in season 2.
She's become more self-assured and isn't intimidated anymore; the rest of the time, she can be herself, sweet and silly.
And I don't think feminine characteristics are a problem; stereotypes and archetypes are great! Ruby is the typical tomboy who hates girly stuff, Gene is the smart, quiet boy, Alex is the classic hero, and Alien is the cute mascot. But that's just the surface; they can be so much more!
The problem is that season 2 has an unfortunate tendency to flanderize the characters (this is a recurring phenomenon in all media), and Twinkle is unfortunately the one that has suffered the most.
For example, in "A Pirate's Honor," Ruby looked at her when everyone was against her because she trusted Twinkle the most and didn't want to lose her trust.
But then there's "A pirate virus" in season 2 which I mentioned earlier (I hate this episode and I'm not going to make a gif of it).
She has literally become a caricature of herself! I cannot blame anyone for forgetting these aspects of her, because even the authors have forgotten them (or they never knew about them). It's as if they have reduced her to her bare surface, nothing more, which is a real shame.
I think it's important (especially in children's cartoons) to show that being sensitive and kind is essential and doesn't mean being weak. It's a real shame that the characters who possess these qualities are also the ones portrayed as stupid, what would children think?
Twinkle is a wonderful character and I think she deserves more love !!
