Favourite British band aside from The Beatles?

Product of my time etc., but I'm going to say Radiohead. They almost match The Beatles in protean versatility; they kept pace or stayed a step ahead of the cultural zeitgeist in their peak decade. Typecast as depressives, they actually offer songs for many if not for every mood, from the playful satire to the angry anthem to the heartfelt torchsong, not to mention their experimental ventures in sonic abstraction.
