Brodie had stopped himself, but Del already knew what he was going to say. He only ever saw the good in her, and that made her feel warm inside. She missed him โ them โ more than anything, but they were over and it was probably all her fault. Del was about to ask him how much it was going to be, but he was already paying. โBrodieโฆyou donโt have to pay for me.โ She sighed, rolling her eyes at the proud, cute smirk on his face.ย โThe gumโs not for me, but that doesnโt really matter, does it?โ She smiled at him and laughed, actually starting to feel like maybe everything was going to be okay. Sure, she was probably going to be upset for a little while longer, but at least she didnโt have to be alone to sulk about it. She had her friends, yes, but having Brodie seemed somehow better.
ย ย ย โI know I donโt have to, but...โ Brodie trailed off while slipping the card back into his wallet which was then returned to his back pocket, giving an effortless shrug of his broad shoulders with the smirk still very much intact.ย Even after all this time and the heartbreak that followed their split, he still cared a great deal about Del, more so than he was willing to admit, but there was certainly no denying the soft spot he held for the blonde.ย A chuckle soon sounded from the redhead at her admission, the smile he was finally able to pull out of Del causing his own smile to be put on display.ย ย โItโs not for you, wow, okay.ย Well, whoever itโs for, tell them I saidย โyouโre welcomeโ,โย he teased, quirking one of his eyebrows slightly.ย ย โBut, I mean, if you keep smiling through tonight then no, it doesnโt matter.โย Sometimes he thought he was pretty smooth, when in reality he was just incredibly corny, this being one of those times.ย With that said, though, he carefully set the beer in a paper bag and dropped the package of gum inside along with it.ย ย โMy shifts over in about ten minutes,โย he started, digging into the front pocket of his jeans to retrieve a set of keys,ย ย โYou wanna wait in my car?โ
