I hate change, I’m scared of change, I need something big in my life to change soon or else I’ll go crazy
Not enough people talking about how well broccoli holds a sauce
before i go to bed because im ill again i just briefly want to say that white people's adoration and frankly over the top love of (certain) animals taking precedence over their care about people of color is disturbing and needs to be dealt with. saw an insta reel today of a girl who adopted a cat whose owners were abducted by ICE and the comments were just filled with "omg the poor cat!" "i feel so bad for the cat!" "omg it probably thinks it was abandoned!!!" "omg the cat!!" okay and what about the owners. what about the people who owned that cat and loved it and will probably never see it again. the owners that like no one knows the names of? the owners? like the people that owned the cat that got kidnapped so suddenly their cat was just left? what about the people. the owners. like remember them? people who are living their worst nightmare?
or the way yt people will prioritize animals in gaza over the humans that live there. or the way yt people will prioritize animals over like real human laborers farming in unsafe and deadly conditions for their agave or whatever vegan trend of the month. or the way yt ppl will tout ecofascist talking points in favor of animals and against human beings. or the way yt people try and push universal veganism instead of food sovereignty and dismiss the culinary traditions of indigenous groups. and and and
People who cannot find beauty in every biome on earth are incredibly bizarre to me. "yeah this place is really beautiful but this place isnt :/". what the fuck are you talking about. start admiring that rock and that tree and that bug and that scrubby little plant and that weird animal and that extreme weather right now. im not telling you to go live there but please you gotta start enjoying all kinds of nature im begging you.
can't believe the only options are 30 minutes early or 10 minutes late. if only there were some other way. but what can you do

I'm shy at first and then im like donkey from shrek
I think if I heard I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas in the correct circumstances it could move me to tears. It's like the promise of a brighter future that never came to pass
it feels like there’s only like five people left on earth who know what the word whimsy means
contrary to popular belief it does NOT mean buying a bunch of pink plastic landfillcore bullshit
conservation is worship to me. in a sense.
I'm not religious but I'm a very emotional scientist and I've been thinking about this a LOT lately. I love the earth enough to be its steward. and I have the necessary tools for the task. a complex brain. dexterous hands. legs made to walk long and far. millions and millions of years of Chance and Opportunity shaped me into something that can give back to the planet that has been a life-sustaining home for every person who ever lived. it's enough to make me teary eyed sometimes
"humans are pests that should be exterminated" I don't think that's true. the ecological niche of humans has shifted from persistence predation to stewardship of entire ecosystems. we've done a lot of wrong. but we have incredible potential to do so, so, so much good.
Reading LM Montgomery has got me thinking that in some ways we’ve gotten more restrictive about what a “normal” family structure is. It’s not at all uncommon in her books to have households and families made up of groups rather than a couple and/or children. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are brother and sister. Rosemary and Ellen West are sisters. Marilla Cuthbert and Rachel Lynde are friends who move in together. Aunt Elizabeth, Aunt Laura, and Emily all live together at New Moon well into Emily’s adulthood and career as an author.
Now, a lot of this is related to the restrictions that women did face in terms of career options and social respectability. Living alone and being self-supporting is a much more common option for women now than it was in the late 1800s/early 1900s, and that’s a very good thing. I think singleness and living alone has become more normalized than it was then for both men and women (modern appliances probably helped with that shift!).
But the flip side is that living with adults other than your spouse – siblings, or other relatives, or friends – on a long-term basis was treated as much more normal then than it is now! Now it’s taken for granted that if you’re single and without kids, you’ll live alone if economically capable of doing do. And I feel like that could he contributing to increases in loneliness. For most of human history, in most societies, I have the impression that it wasn’t typical for single people to live alone. Having the freedom to do so is great! But having it feel atypical to not do so could be guiding people who are genuinely unhappy alone to think that loneliness or finding a romantic partner are their only options.
no one is coming to save you its true its true someone might be coming to hang outttttttttt though. someday

johnny depp as ebenezer scrooge sounds like a crime against humanity
"oh we gotta make an origin story to find out HOW he became scrooge" you mean... a christmas carol? a christmas carol by charles dickens, published 1843?
someone’s making what with who
diana barry is an example of a character who is written as fat but every adaptation refuses to depict it perhaps because the source material doesn't portray her fatness negatively. in this essay i will
