BREAKING: New York State removes surgical requirement for gender marker changes on birth certificates. This is tremendous news for the trans community and a step forward for equality and justice! But we still have a ways to go: New York State’s policy change does not apply to those born in New York City, which issues its own birth certificates. We look forward to tackling this issue here in NYC.
