Are the warrior cats series still going? I basically don't know if there are any warrior cats books coming out.

yeah they are i think a new arc just started or smth i dont rlly read them anymore but i keep up via wiki deepdives once every 2 years

ppl get all pissy about calling certain warrior cats trans, saying it's "unrealistic". idk how to tell them that realism isn't quite the hill you want to die on with regards to a book series about cats with organized government, religion, ghosts, and canonical superpowers.

like. normal cats DONT have a concept of gender, but they also don't have laws or government or knowledge of medicine. lmao

i’ve been working on a warrior cat generator  that is mostly done, i might add more to the various lists that make up the generator but its at a place where i can at least post it

As much as I would personally want to see an explicitly gay cat in canon and not just implied homosexuality, it’s not as easy as “the Erins can just do it and the publisher will capitulate because the books are too popular”. That’s very much simplifying the whole process of book publishing and making some wild assumptions about the editors while you’re at it.

its 2020 and theres like 40 of these shitty books if cathy hunter the 5th or whoever decided to say “hey im putting backgroundclaw and unimportantfur in the book and theyre mates and are both boys”

1. do you think the publisher or editors would even notice unless told since they barely proofread these mfs anyway  2. if cathy the 5th put her foot down about having like, a single background gay character, they Would capitulate because the wc series makes dollars, the end.

Are there any actual canon lgbt characters in warrior cats?

tallstar is ~implied gay~ but thats literally it. 2000 something cats and not one canon gay!

The Erins aren’t allowed to do anything more than imply, unfortunately. Harper Colins won’t allow explicitly LGBT characters. That being said, there are characters that the Erins have said are intended to be LGBT. They are Ravenpaw (no sexuality given, but he’s mates with Barley), Barley (same as Ravenpaw), Tallstar (gay), Jake (bi), and Mousefur (ace). I’ve heard that there are more, but have been unable to find sources on that info.

The Erin’s could very well put and LGBT character into their best selling cat-mill franchise and Harper Collin’s would just have to let them. “the publisher wont let us!” isnt an excuse when you know the series sells well and will sell no matter what. It’s more like “we don’t want to take the risk!” and also the Erin’s are as cishet as they come.

dunno how old this is but ravenpaw and barley as well as tallstar and jake have been confirmed to be canonically gay, and saying the erins are as cishet as they come because the publisher wont let them isnt an excuse… just let them write their damn books in peace and if ur gonna attack them for being “as cishet as they come” then dont read their books lmao
