EVABOY - BANDCAMP MEGA COLLECTION

Decided to get back on here to ramble about stuff I enjoy and I recently purchased this album after a buddy of mine across the states sent me his other project titled "FS3: VIRTUA CLOUDS 3" which ended up being a carefully mixed masterpiece with unique uk garage to cumbia that hits so hard it'll send you back to Mexico...

But this Bandcamp release with most songs originally coming from a project tilted "...jook 'til i die" has some of the invigorating beats I've heard in a while. After going down an insane alt hip-hop rabbit hole it almost feels refreshing to hear something so intense but well crafted. Every song on this is a banger, starting off with the track "is there a point you know" which puts a fun twist on birthday sex from Jeremih which my brother in law used to blast in the car when I was a kid... now turning into the song I play whenever I go into car rides with my buddiess

Through this song we get introduced to a character named Rio who is mentioned frequently throughout the album. While it may not be too relevant I like to imagine this project as the main character who fell in love with this mysterious of a person Rio and has to face the consequences delving into the unknown with the asking themselves that initial question if there is a point. The consequences are met from continuing to see this Rio as the bandcamp description reads...

I'm fairly new to this genre of music but after a couple listens I've fallen in love with tracks such as "JOOK 'TIL I DIE" that makes me feel like that one epi sode of regular show where Benson just starts breakdancing with its vicious bass. I vividly remember racing someone on the freeway to "pinoy" and while it was an incredibly irresponsible decision it made for the perfect song with a drum loop that is kick-ass. "Obliterate the Shit out of a SEWERSLVT Fan in WALGREENS for the most Obvious reasoning" has to be the most insane name for a song that sample one of my favorite MIA songs and flips it into a bubbly beat that transitions into a hardcore bass heavy song that makes me feel like I'm training to fight saitama. Give this album a listen if you haven't already, Miya Lowe's other projects under the FIGURE SKATER moniker are so inspiring to listen to and can make the most mundane task into a rave.

tracks - 8/14/22

Recently, it's been an interesting month; what strikes me usually in music is very upbeat tracks, but it's been different the past couple of days. Different songs ranging from Westside Gunn's new to old projects and old-school Neptune tracks and the melancholy like band Lamp.

Here are a couple of tracks and albums I've found interesting throughout this month so far.

album - supreme blientele - westside gunn

fav tracks: brutus, amherist station, elizabeth, bossface brippler, wrestlemania 20

Recently listened to this with a friend of mine, and it's such a raw album, Westside Gunn (despite his quirky lyricism) has a very special talent in finding such brash beats that I don't hear anywhere else. You hear brutus with this heavy hitting laser sound that get's me so excited and that running beat that makes you feel like you're in a movie. Then there's Elizabeth with this soft saxophone-esque beat Gunn is able to rap over flawlessly. I love wrestlemania too, its catchy and I love the way they use the sample to add onto Anderson Paak's hook. Overall, great listen and can make nothing feel like something.

track - fuck all nite - jay z with pharell williams

This song is so good, I can not stress this enough. Such a groovy beat that sounds so bubbly with this bouncy bass, truly a highlight in the Neptunes producing catalog. Jay-Z has such a fun verse on how he's going to take you out to lunch then dinner then engage in... activities. Overall, fun to sing along with especially with the added pharell hook and little "huh!" and "yeah!" in the hook its become one of my favorite songs to walk to.

Danny Brown is acutally speaking english! Immaculate. Recommended, this song grew on me overtime because of how effortlessly he hops on this groovy beat. Great bars about how he goes to a "hood liquor store to cop a slize of pizza" this became one of my favorite Danny Brown songs. Can't forget the chorus too that randomly pops into my head... nana

track - tomorrow comes I will - lamp

This is the most recently discovered on this list; this song has so much feeling to it. Such a carefree-sounding song it is almost nostalgic, reminding me of good times with friends. With great vocals and effortless guitar playing, it just feels so groovy, even bliss-like. It reminds me of how talented Lamp is as an indie band coming from japan. Amazing.

track - I just died - amerie

I have been eager to write about this track for a while only because it's such a rare gem of a song. It has this very repetitive beat that works somehow. Similar to a skipping drum that cuts into these soft keys it makes me feel like I'm in a dream. Not only that but Amerie's voice is so calm but enticing to listen to, sounds like she's whispering while singing it's remarkable. It's so magical, lyrics are very relatable.

i've been listening to a lot of old stuff

hi i’ve been listening to a lot more classics and albums with a more boom bap sound lately and here is all the knowledge i’ve gained about my music taste and just other thoughts i have i guess. my first listen of all these albums have been this year, aside from the minstrel show.

not pictured is enter the wu-tang. i just realized i forgot to put it here but wow for some reason i didn’t enjoy that album at all! i also forgot to put the art of storytelling by slick rick

i have noticed though everytime i've listened to some of his much more recent work i got bored. doesnt count the stuff he produces for rapsody bc i really like thaaat

murs gave me a new appreciation for the skill of storytelling in rap hes so funny...

soul samples are now like one of my favorite things ever it's literally a cheat code for me (realized while listening to that blu album)

the boldy james and prodigy albums are the only older alchemist projects ive listened to but theyve shown me that al has always been #that guy!

favorite jayz album is the blueprint but favorite jayz songs are off reasonable doubt

fun fact the only reason i listened to the blueprint is because a couple weeks after listening to and enjoying that jean grae ep i found out 2 songs on it were remixes of jayz songs. she MOPPED THE FLOOR WITH him btw

anyways..glad ive been listening to these things. i love hip hop i have for a while but i could never confidently call myself a hip hop head bc i literally do not know anything about the classics. i havent even listened to illmatic yet LMAOOO. i will one day

this is my intro

I'm William, this will be an archive page for me to just post random little things mostly related to music

it mostly started for me when my mom had apple music way back around 2013 on her computer and it was full of over 1000+ songs that I just enjoyed shuffling through, I think the first songs that I pinned down was "Jesus Walks" by Kanye, "creep" by Radiohead and "champagne supernova" by Oasis, oh and a bunch of Eminem songs so it was a lot of old-school rap and artsy-rock. My dad also got me into old-school Mexican music and frank Sinatra.

It probably wasn't until around seventh grade I randomly got recommended the tamale music video by Tyler and it sounded so much different and WEIRD than the random EDM music my cousin had got me into. From there, my eighth-grade year was mostly "cherry bomb" which got me into N.E.R.D and produced of my favorites "in search of." There were other songs as well such as "break it down" by logic or "hand's on the wheel" by schoolboy q which I found from a steven fernandez skate video. Then sometime by the end of the year, I went to go see camp flog gnaw (2017) and everything changed. Moving to California for high school shaped my music taste, especially in the bay area where everyone was listening to a variety.

Fast-forward to now, I'm mostly listening to Rap, Alt Hip-Hop, Oldschool R&B, a variety of Pop and Rock, and different Hispanic/ Latino tunes. I hope this page becomes a fun place to write about random music-related things or maybe even art idk. We shall see
