Evelyn took a deep breath as she stepped into the bakery. It smelled of lemons and blueberries and sugar, and the skater instantly knew her diet was going to be shot to hell. But she deserved it! She had finally started to get back into shape after the dislocated shoulder had derailed her training for a bit, but now she was back and better than ever. So bring on the cheesecake! Giggling to herself, Evie ordered herself that perfectly lovely lemon blueberry mini cheesecake and a lavender latte'. Then nearly jumped right out of her skin as an arm reached over her and a very familiar brogue filled the air.
Her cheeks of course pinked at his grin; Liam would always have that affect on her. But there was something different in her demeanor. Gone was the silly little romantic who could easily swoon from just a glance. In her place was a woman who had loved and been left too many times, who now had no expectations and had finally learned to just live life as it came. So while a flash of that old romantic was still in her ice blue eyes, her answering grin was just as teasing and not the least bit swoony.
"Well thank you Mister Connelly! You're very gallant today"
"I'd like to argue I'm always very gallant, you just don't generally see it past the beard and flannel," Liam offered in joking retort, before taking back his card and receipt and stepping back with Evie as they awaited their food and drinks. He gave her a once over, if for no other reason than to see if there was something new about her affecting the more casual, less formal Evie he was often so used to, but didn't catch any sort of jewelry or the like the indicate a new direction.
He grinned again and raised a brow, "It's good to see you, Evie. I hope everything's going well, what with all the new changes and hubbub going on around here. It's been a bit upside down, as it is."
The Irishman was wearing his usual dusty attire. Jeans with some grease or oil stains, in lieu of a flannel today was a more tan/beige work shirt with arms rolled up, and his typical boots with soles caked in a bit of mud and grime.
"How have you been?" Almost reiterating his earlier question in a more direct way.
