Madison listened to him recite Shakespeare’s words and cautiously peeked at him from under her hair. “You can’t really expect to impress a girl quoting Romeo and Juliet.” Madison chuckled, once again speaking just loud enough for the other boy to hear her. Although she wished she hadn’t opened her mouth, her face flushed and she nervously pushed her hair back. “I mean- Romeo and Juliet isn’t exactly romantic unless you’re into teen suicide.”

“It’s got better odds than trying to use Macbeth... or even Hamlet---- then again Shakespeare was never one to pry into the likes of cliché love stories, was he? He was more... into symbolism, I guess,” Liam turned around in his seat once more, looking over at her with piqued interest, and a smile to match. “Take Romeo and Juliet for example, some argue that it’s about two star-crossed lovers; but the real story is about two families, both felled by their own hatred, a society that drives two kids to suicide for something as innocent as love. It’s tragic.” He shrugged, thankful for the amount of time he spent paying attention in English class. “But most people only pay attention to the romance.”

he figures there can never be one without the other, really. and in most cases, his answer is solely dependant on the situation at hand. or, of course, the person.

there was something unnerving about the screams he’d hear every night, the ones that despite his weak knees and shaking hands-- he’d try to soothe the person they belonged to. he felt unsafe, some nights. like her screams were infectious. her nightmares caused his, in spite of his best efforts to keep them from under his skin. unwavering, he stayed by her side through thick and thin. and if asked; would he do it all again? the answer would always be yes. he would rather be secure in the place of somewhere he feels at peace; with someone he loves, than guaranteed safety elsewhere.

liam is one of those people that firmly believes that you can choose your own family in life, whether the one you’re born into is good or bad, you will always gain a new one in the form of close bonds; friendship. though, he’s generally nice to everyone ( granted they are to him ) and isn’t viewed as anti-social by any standards, he’s known to have a few select people he considers himself truly friends with. not that he’s opposed to accepting more into his second life... on the contrary, he believes if fate has set him up to meet someone, to know someone, then he will.

Liam shrugged. “No can do. Sorry, princess. If you want alcohol, I’d go elsewhere. I’m no good at keeping secrets.”

I’m having one of those days too,” she said with a small laugh as she bit her lip. “As long as it has some kind of alcohol, I’m for it,” Kirby said, running a paint flecked hand over the space in front of her. She’d sold a painting earlier that evening and decided to grab a drink to celebrate. Of course, she was alone, but it didn’t bother her too much.

"Are you sure about that? I mean, some of this stuff can be pretty hard to swallow,” he retrieved a bottle of beer and popped the cap off on the edge of the bar, a quick and efficient trick he’d learned while working there, and handed it over with a satisfied smile. “Better startin’ off easy.” Liam said whilst removing the towel from his shoulder, cleaning the surface of spilled drinks.
