Day 22 Hanoi
After my sixth flight of this trip I land in Hanoi. I’m glad I left Hue. There is just so much more to do here. Just going for a wander and you discover a street show. The night market is a whole experience on its own. I think I’ll try and get the Halong Bay boat trip done before I leave. It’s truly beginning to feel like the last leg of my journey now. 22 days have flown by.
Day 21 Hue
Another bus. Another city. Only the 4 hours this time as I’m off to Hue. I arrive and it is bouncing it down with rain. I check in and head straight out. I pick up quickly that there’s really not much here. 3 days here is way too much. I go to the war museum to see old tanks and planes then head inside the citadel. I decide I can’t stay here for two more days so I bring my flight to Hanoi forward from the 15th to tomorrow. They only charge £11 so I’m happy with that. Bad weather and a isolated city isn’t a good combination when you are trying to travel the world.
Day 20 Hoi An
Early bird catches the worm. Today I’m off to My Son, ancient ruins destroyed by the Americans. It’s in a remote area about a hour away. We have a tour guide but there must be about 50 on the tour so I decide to wander off from the tour on my own. Now, as I knew I was backpacking again. I bought a selfie stick with a tripod and Bluetooth remote control. This means I can set my phone up on the tripod, walk away and take a photo with no help needed. Genius. It was actually a great move, so this became the Liam photo shoot session 😂 I’m sure my mates will give me plenty of stick but I’m really happy with the photos on saw some amazing sights.

Day 19 Hoi An
After a gruelling 11 hour bus journey, I arrive in Hoi An. It’s 5am, I bang on the hotel reception door like a bailiff to wake up the sleeping receptionist. I try to get sleep but after being unable to get the air conditioning working it was impossible. I get up early and head down to the ancient town. There is some amazing sights here including the Japanese covered bridge and ancient houses some over 300 years old. After walking a good 9 miles again it’s time to head back to the hotel as I’ve booked a trip to My Son early in the morning. It’s colder now up here so I’m going to miss the relaxing in Nha Trang of 34 degree heat.
Days 17 & 18 Nha Trang
As the weather is perfect here and I’ve met some amazing people I book a extra two days. Considering I wasn’t even supposed to come here it’s been the best part of my trip. Not much to write as I’ve just been sunbathing and enjoying time with my new friends. I’ve been taken under the wing of a russian family and it’s been brilliant having to make yourself learn the basics of a language in order to get by. Surprising how quickly you can actually pick things up when you have no other choice. Naturally, my pronunciation is terrible but they find this hilarious.
Day 16 Nha Trang
I’m up early and it’s given cloudy until this afternoon. I’ve decided to head to a mud spa as it’s popular round here. I catch a taxi up to the resort, I spend 20 mins in a bath of mud which is a experience. Then you go into pools filled with natural mineral water from the hot springs. Amazing! The sun comes out and it’s a scorcher. May as well spend the day here seen as I’m in a resort with a pool and a waterfall! I make friends with a russian family who are celebrating there Christmas. The sister is a russian fitness model and through our natural love of training and via the means of google translate we agree to train together in the afternoon. The family invite me to join them for a evening meal. Thank god for google translate or this wouldn’t have been possible!
Day 15 Nha Trang
So after a interesting journey to say the least. I arrive in Nha Trang. A 4 hour bus ride that was halted due to a rock slide was a interesting start to the day. Checked in now time to hit the beach. It’s 30 degrees here so I’m going to make the most of the sun. I’m going to have a chilled day seen as I’ve been up since 5am again. I decide to experience a blind massage. It’s as it says, it’s a blind man giving you a back massage. Very different and had to try as it came recommend. I gave him a good tip seen as my back was so stiff from travelling. Day sunbathing then off out for food and a early night.
This deserves its own post! When I buy my house I’m definitley getting this printed on canvas
