Week 342: Welcome to New York! Monday, April 6th, we checked into the Empire Hotel, 44 W 63rd St, New York, then met up with Holly, Harry and Leo at the Heckscher Playground in Central Park followed by dinner at La Bonne Soupe, 48 W 55th St (where Holly and Leo had their first date!). On Tuesday, April 7th, we went to the American Museum of Natural History, 200 Central Prk W, and saw amazing dinosaurs, giant blue whales, an Invisible Worlds exhibit, and asteroids (we had watched "Night at the Museum" in preparation). Afterwards we got lunch from a food cart and walked through Central Park to see the Belvedere Castle, Shakespeare Garden, Bethesda Fountain, and ended up at the Adventure Playground. That evening Lianna got drinks with Holly at Sea Witch, 703 5th Ave, Brooklyn, while Andrei and the boys got Japanese food and gelato. Then on Wednesday, April 8th, we got breakfast at Breads Bakery, 1890 Broadway, and Lianna went to The Frick Collection, 1 E 70th St, and saw the Gainsborough: The Fashion of Portraiture exhibit, then met up with the boys in Central Park and took the Subway to Prospect Park to meet up with Holly, Harry, and Tasha at the Harmony Playground. Then we came back to the city and had dinner at the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, Chalong Southern Thai, 749 9th Ave, followed by gelato with Alex at Gelatoville Gelateria Coffee & Bakery, 692 9th Ave, before walking through Times Square to see Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre, 214 W 42nd St. On Thursday, April 9th, we took the subway to Battery Park at got breakfast at Liberty Bagels Wall Street, 32 Broadway, and coffee at Cafe Grumpy - Financial District, 20 Stone St. Then we got on the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and climbed up to the top of the pedestal for great views! Afterwards we briefly stopped at Ellis Island and Castle Clinton before coming back to Central Park for more playground time and dinner at Le Pan Quotidien, 60 W 65th St. That evening Lianna went to see Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) at the Longacre Theatre, 220 W 48th St. For our last morning in NYC, we met up with Katie, Emilia, Musetta, Laith and Idris at Lincoln Center Plaza, then went back to Heckscher Playground. For lunch we went to The Independent Cafe, David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, 61 W 62nd St, then back to Central Park for more playtime and a ride on the Central Park Carousel, 1802 E 65th St, before saying goodbye!
