Libby was born on January 27th, 1998 in Zuzu City to James and Amelia Wyler. She is their only child. 

As a child, Libby was a bit more of a whirlwind than her parents had hoped for. She did well in school, but she was constantly being sent to principal’s office because of teasing and various pranks. 

Going into middle school, she calmed down more, but went into her stubborn stage. She was constantly challenging her parents authority. In her eyes she knew better than anyone. She still kept a decent GPA, but was troubling in every other aspect.

Despite how difficult Libby could be, she had a really great relationship with her parents. When she wasn’t being brat, they had a really great time together. She was especially close to her dad and would often be a stinker to her mom, but then turn around and play the angel card on her dad.

By the time Libby reached high school, she’d calmed down a lot. She’d be sarcastic from time to time and wouldn’t hesitate to roll her eyes at you, but she was much calmer. Her and her parent butted heads a lot less, and she was doing really great in school. She’d managed to make a lot of friends and was generally liked. That didn’t mean she didn’t skip class from time to time, but her parents didn’t need to know that. 

One day she decided to skip final period with some friends, and she honestly couldn’t have picked a worse day. Her father was in an accident that day and tragically passed away. Her mom tried to contact the school so she could pull Libby from class, but Libby was unfortunately no where to be found. Since she had been skipping, she ignored any calls that were coming from her mom and didn’t think much of it. Once the end of school came though, she was greeted by a very distraught mom when she got back to campus. The news she received completely shattered her world. 

After Libby’s father passed away, her mom decided to move them to her home town, Pelican Town. Libby’s grandparents still lived there and ran a small bakery in town. After such a traumatic loss, being with family seemed like the best answer. 

After having her entire world crushed Libby was, understandably, not an easy person to deal with. She often lashed out at people and became very withheld. Moving away from the life she’d always known angered her, even if deep down she knew it was what was best for her mom. 

As soon as she turned 18, she packed up her things and left the small town to go to college. While in college, things didn’t get better for her. She had a hard time connecting with people so making friends was near impossible. The stress of being in college mixed with everything else she’d been going through was just too much. Eventually, her stress and anxiety culminated into a eating disorder. Over time it worsened more and more until eventually she had to be hospitalized for it. Once she was out of the hospital she was sent to a psychiatric ward to be treated. 

Everything that happened brought a lot of stress and anxiety to her mom. So, to help bring some peace of mind to her mom, she dropped out of college and moved back to Pelican Town to be with her.  

Now she has been living back in Pelican town for about five years and is currently helping her mom out at her family’s bakery (even if she’s not very good at baking). She’s doing a lot better than she had been a few years prior, but it can still take a little bit for her to open up to people. 

Most of her time is either spent at the bakery, or spending time with Haley and or Alex. Despite not getting along in high school Haley has become one of her bestest friends and is currently the only one that knows about what happened to Libby.

"When Haley and I were about eight she'd thrown a coin into the fountain to make a wish. Me being the dick I am climbed into the fountain and grabbed her coin so I could tell her wish wasn't going to come true. She then proceeded to cry and once again me being the dick I am just laughed. It honestly wasn’t that unusual to not see her cat for a couple of days. He’d been a stray that started coming around the bakery, and after feeding him a few times, he decided he liked Libby and stuck around. Since he started coming around though it had progressed from just feeding him to him coming in at night to sleep in her room with her. The past couple days though he hadn’t come around. She didn’t want to admit she was worried about him, but she was starting to be.

After walking around the town for about an hour or so, she was beginning to lose hope. Maybe he’d moved on and found someone else to feed him. Before she gave up her search though, she decided it wouldn’t hurt to at least ask someone if they’d seen him. So, the next person she saw she stopped so she could ask, “Um, hi” she said with a small awkward wave, “This is going to sound like a really odd question, but have you seen a cat in your trash lately?” she then mimed his size with her hands, “He’s about this big and he’s a tabby cat,” she said before letting out a small sigh, “His name is Garbage and I haven’t seen him in a couple days and I’m a little worried about him. Do you think you could help me look for him?” she asked, fidgeting with the end of her sleeve as she waited for their reply.

alex had been focusing on the walk ahead of them for a moment, but his attention quickly turned to libby, and he grinned at her. big, all dimples. “oh, i bet you’re thrilled about that,” he teased the brunette about the baking playfully, nudging her side gently with his elbow. ever since the little accident they’d had when they were kids, alex always tried to be careful with libby. it wasn’t even conscious anymore, but sometimes his size betrayed him. thankfully, this time he was as gentle as he intended to be. “don’t burn your hands off, alright? those ovens look scary.” he added. “the docks, huh? and do what there? commune with the fish?” 

alex was confident the young woman knew he meant no harm with his little remarks, it was just who he was as a person. barely ever serious, just there to have a good time. despite all of this, he tried to make it as clear as possible that he enjoyed libby’s company as much as he did anyone else. did it work? he had no idea, but he sure did try. “me?” he asked, slightly confused. it was obvious that at some point the conversation would shift back to him, but he was still taken by surprise when it did. her further questioning about sports got a little chuckle out of him  — he wasn’t the only one trying, after all. “you mean the season? it’s over, lib. until the fall, anyways. now, if you mean am i playing a game on sunday? also no, sadly.” he gave her a sad smile as he spoke. “i might be playing lacrosse with some old buds sunday, though. why, did you wanna come?” he added, raising an eyebrow at the brunette, the same dimply smile still plastered on his face.

It was a little amusing how gentle Alex always tried to be with her. He’d accidentally hurt her when they were kids and had never let it go. Honestly, she found it kind of cute that he was still so cautious. Libby playfully rolled her eyes at his comment, “See, it isn’t my hands I’m worried about burning. I’m more worried about burning the entire place down,” she said before adding, “I’ve almost done it before, but my mom still thinks it’s a good idea to have me working there,” she said with a small laugh and shake of her head. She knew her mom still worried about her a lot and that was probably a big reason why she kept her there even though she was not good at her job at all. Another laugh escaped the brunette, “Actually no, I’m hoping I’ll find some hot merman and we’ll fall in love,” she said, grinning playfully up at him before shaking her head, “No, I’m kidding. I don’t know, my dad really liked the ocean so I guess I like going there because of him,” she said with a small shrug. 

As kids Libby had admired Alex, but as a teenager she had thought he was just the worst. She’d been so convinced that she wanted nothing to do with someone like him, but now he was one of the most important people in her life. Now she knew that he was so much more than her initial judgement. His surprise when she shifted the conversation to him caused her to let out another small laugh, “Yeah, what about you?” she repeated, smiling up at him. Her cheeks then began to burn a little when he answered. Hey, she was trying though. “I feel like I had a 50/50 chance there,” she said, looking down at her feet to try and hide the blush on her face. “At least, I think a 50/50 chance... I feel like I’m very wrong about that too,” she shook her head at herself. Once the blush had left her cheeks, she looked back up at him again, taking note of the sad smile he gave her. It made her heart ache for him, but she knew it was best to just leave it at that. “Oh, lacrosse?” she asked, taking a mental note to do a little research on it when she got home, “if you mean to play with you then I’m not sure if that’s a good idea,” she let out a laugh, “But if it’s to come cheer you on, then I’d be happy to tag along,” she smiled up at him again, “But only if you’re sure. I don’t want to impose or anything,” she added, looking back down to her feet as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear.

Walden laughed at the mention of the drink and Buzzfeed. “Okay, I have never heard of a Twelve Mile Limit, and I’ve heard some crazy cocktails before. Bet I could make it up though, maybe that’s what I’ll do if things stay slow, you’d be the first to try it. I’ll get you that Long Island in the meantime, though. Solid choice–though people usually only order it if they’ve had a day, you know? You alright, or just tryina have a good time?”

“This isn’t the first time BuzzFeed has lied to me so I can’t say I’m surprised,” she said with a laugh and small shake of her head. She then nodded her head, eyebrows raised with intrigue, “Okay, that could be fun though,” she then added, “And probably way better than whatever they had claimed it was,” she said waving next to her as if they were there. “I actually just happen to have a weirdly high tolerance when it comes to alcohol,” she said with a small shrug, “Which I know is hard to believe, but it’s true,” a small laugh escaped her before she shrugged her shoulders again, “I don’t know, I just like how they taste. But i definitely understand why people say they’re so dangerous,” she said. 

Libby was silent for a moment, looking down at the counter as Walden prepared her drink. “So, I have to ask you,” she said, looking back up to him, “Being a bartender do you have to constantly listen to everyone’s drama and problems? Like a therapist that doesn’t get paid to be a therapist?” she asked curiously. “Because I image a lot of people just get drunk and tell you everything even though you definitely didn’t ask for it,”

Haley knew Libby would be on the same page as her, so when she reacted in disgust, Haley nodded vehemently. “I know! I don’t get her! There’s so many vegan foods that are good but it’s like she wants to be complicated and nasty. I guess she likes being miserable and taking me down with her.” Her bright blue eyes rolled in despair. “Yeah, Gus knows what he’s doing. Clearly more than Em does.” She giggled at the kiss Libby blew at her, bringing her hand up to return the favor. “Ya mooch. You’re lucky I love you as much as I do.” She pushed off of Libby’s couch that she’d only just settled down on, to give the haunting tale of her failed lunch, and headed out the door to go down the stairs to the sidewalk.

“There are much better options out there and there’s so many that don’t have quinoa. Choosing to ignore all those other options and choose quinoa burgers is probably a crime. Emily better look out,” she said with playful warning eyes. “You know what, they definitely had the plan of taking you down with quinoa burgers. And it almost worked! Man, that was a close one,” she said in a joking tone. Libby then playfully rolled her eyes at the blonde, “yeah, yeah, I know I’m lucky and all that jazz,” she waved her hand at her dismissively before also pulling herself up from the couch, following her out.

It was honestly kind of amusing that the two were best friends now. There was a point in their lives where they absolutely hated each other. Sure, they’d been kids at the time, but it was still funny to see how far they’d come. Now she’d do anything for Haley, no questions asked. “I was thinking that we should do a photoshoot of Garbage,” she said as they walked. Before Haley could say anything though, she quickly added, “The cat, not like actual garbage,” a small laugh escaped her. “I just think he deserves it and also like he’d look killer in your portfolio,”

it wasn’t rare that alex and libby spent time together over at haley’s. the blonde lived alone with her sister and alex didn’t dare to have friends over, based on his grandfather’s usual behavior… better to save everyone the awkwardness. unsurprisingly, time had flown by that evening and it was time to go home. it wasn’t like pelican had a high crime rate, but the town sure did lack public lighting  — naturally, he offered to walk libby home. and the moment they were both alone outside of haley’s front door, he realized that he rarely ever was left alone with the girl. suddenly all the topics of conversation left him. “after you,” he murmured, extending a hand to let the brunette lead the way. “so lib, you got plans for this weekend?” he asked, a bit awkwardly, even for alex. @libbywyler​

Libby often spent most of her free time with Haley and Alex. They’d surprisingly become her two closest friends over the years despite their somewhat rocky start. Usually, it was the three of them though, so now that it was just the two of them, she felt a bit awkward. It wasn’t because Libby didn’t want to spend time alone with Alex- because she did. It’s just she usually had Haley there doing all the talking so she was able to just join in on the conversation instead of having to come up with the conversation. That and she was definitely overthinking things at the moment. It made her happy when he offered to walk her home though, because she honestly wasn’t ready for the night to be over just yet.

 She said her goodbyes to Haley before nodding and stepping out before him. It was silent for a brief moment as they began to walk and she rattled her brain for something to talk about. Should she mention sports or something? He liked that, but she knew next to nothing about it other than whatever Alex may have mentioned in conversation. Thankfully, he was the one who broke the silence, “Oh, um not really. I have to help my mom in the bakery some tomorrow, but besides that I’ll probably just chill. Maybe go sit at the docks,” she shrugged her shoulders a little before looking up to him, “What about you? There’s a football game on Sunday, right?” she asked, keeping her fingers mentally crossed that she was right.

“So what can I get started for ya?” the bartender asked, tossing his towel over his shoulder. “Hell, I’ll even make it extra strong. You’re the first person to come in for a hot minute and I’ve been bored out of my mind.”

“Oh boy, well since you’re bored I’ll make things interesting and order something exciting,” she said as she took a seat at the bar. “Vodka punch please,” she said before a playful grin came to her face, “No, I’m kidding. I was going to order a Long Island Iced Tea, but then I remembered a BuzzFeed article I read once that suggested ordering a Twelve Mile Limit,” she said but then quickly then added, “Unless BuzzFeed totally made it up and is just gaslighting people, then I’ll just have a Long Island Iced Tea,”

“Guess what Emily made for lunch. Go ahead, guess.” Haley didn’t give them enough time to guess, bursting out with an answer before they had any chance to speak. “Quinoa burgers. Doesn’t that just make you wanna hurl?” Her eyes rolled melodramatically. “Anyway. Come to the saloon with me to get something more edible to eat. I hate going in there by myself. But I’ll buy you whatever you want to eat to say thanks or whatever.”

“Oh boy, whatever it is I can guess it isn’t going to be good,” Libby said, a small grimace on her face as she braced herself for whatever it was. When Haley responded, her nose wrinkled up in disgust, “Okay, ew. Look, I get the whole vegan thing and like good for her, but fuck quinoa.” She had been just about to suggest they head to The Saloon for a more edible option, but she beat her to it. “Good plan, I always trust whatever Gus cooks up,” she said before shrugging, “Honestly, he might even be able to make quinoa edible,” she said before adding, “Also, I assumed you’d cover me because you love me,” she then playfully blew a kiss in her best friends direction.
